Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carl Jessup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Nogueira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nogueira comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jessup rushes Nogueira and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nogueira drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jessup pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jessup paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Jessup has Nogueira up against the cage in a clinch.
Jessup throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Nogueira blocks it with crossed arms.
I was talking to Jessup's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
A nice left hand lands by Jessup.
Nogueira wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jessup lands a right hand that snaps the head of Nogueira backwards.

Jessup is pushing Nogueira up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Jessup is pressed up against the cage. Nogueira has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jessup down to the mat. Jessup avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jessup tries to bum rush Nogueira with a series of wild strikes but Nogueira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jessup, as that shot connected.
Jessup throws a looping overhand right but Nogueira ducks down to avoid it.
Nogueira will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Carl Jessup has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Nogueira.

Jessup seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Nogueira is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jessup gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Jessup's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Carl Jessup.
Jessup lands a big head kick that sends Nogueira to the canvas! Jessup follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

In defeat, Wanderlei Nogueira stepped up to the mic, saying 'Is the ref blind!?!?! I didn't lose that one, I'm not gonna count that fight as a loss. '.
