PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Willis Slapaho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Cabal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Willis Slapaho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson Cabal!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabal keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Cabal feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cabal stands up and waves to Slapaho to follow him.

Cabal shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cabal was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slapaho is desperately trying to improve his position but Cabal has a good base and remains in mount.
Cabal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slapaho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Slapaho tries to hold on but Cabal pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Slapaho really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cabal trying to control but Slapaho is having none of it.
Slapaho regains half guard.
Slapaho has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cabal is working away from the top position though.

Slapaho pushes Cabal off and gets back to his feet.

and Cabal counters with a single leg into guard. Slapaho didn't expect that.

Slapaho will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Slapaho has his foot on Cabal's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cabal works his way back into a safe position though.

Cabal sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Slapaho's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyson Cabal dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Cabal decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
It looks like Cabal is going to stand back up.
Cabal is tying to control. Slapaho wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Cabal is just content to waste time from the top position. Slapaho takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Slapaho escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cabal gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cabal is looking to stand up but Slapaho won't let him.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Slapaho scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cabal has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Nice takedown defense from Cabal. No joy for Slapaho on that attempt.

Cabal escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cabal shoots in but Slapaho avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Cabal throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slapaho's waist but Slapaho gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cabal off to one side.

Horrible takedown by Slapaho or perhaps it was just good defense by Cabal which made him look bad.

Cabal moves into range and clinches up with Slapaho.

Cabal tightens his grip and picks Slapaho up, before dumping him to the ground. Slapaho manages to land in guard.
Slapaho is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Tyson Cabal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cabal has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Slapaho has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cabal is proving hard to escape from.

Cabal is looking for a triangle here but Slapaho uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Slapaho throws a lazy right hand but Cabal sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cabal is looking to clinch but Slapaho is avoiding it.

and Cabal counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cabal.

Willis Slapaho has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tyson Cabal is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Slapaho has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cabal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

And that's the end of the fight!

I've got Cabal winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
