Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Cormeir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Exlax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cormeir comes to the cage accompanied by -N- The Bay. Cain Cormeir had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 207.0lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Cain Cormeir had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cain Cormeir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Exlax! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cormeir tries for a takedown but Exlax sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cormeir fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Cormeir has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Cormeir drives through with a takedown into guard. Cormeir throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Exlax looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Exlax being controlled here, momentarily. Exlax is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Cormeir lands a couple of digs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Exlax preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cormeir stops Exlax from standing up. Exlax tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cormeir trying to control the position from guard on top but Exlax is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cormeir might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cormeir preventing the sweep. Exlax is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Exlax misses with an attempted mid kick.
Exlax defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cormeir. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cain Cormeir. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cormeir fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Exlax avoids it really well and circles away. The crowd cheers as Exlax lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cormeir doesn't seem phased though. Cormeir closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Exlax quickly recovers to half guard. Cormeir thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Exlax's head. Cormeir prevents Exlax from standing back up.
Exlax has hold of Cormeir's hands but Cormeir slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Exlax told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Exlax is trying to escape back to his feet but Cormeir uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Exlax is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cormeir is controlling him well. Cormeir scoring with punches from side control. Exlax is trying to get back to his feet. Exlax is working to avoid the ground and pound but Cormeir connects with a decent elbow. The strikes coming from Cormeir are missing the target in this wave of attacks. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cormeir tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Exlax defending against the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Exlax struggling a bit here. Cormeir in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Exlax tries to buck Cormeir off but Cormeir is having none of it. Exlax is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Cormeir is working Exlax over with some ground and pound from side control. Exlax is not content to let Cormeir control the position. Exlax tries to escape but Cormeir is in control. Exlax is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Cormeir not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Cormeir working over Exlax with some ground and pound. Exlax looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cormeir scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Cormeir is trying to control the action in half guard but Exlax is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Exlax is trying to stand back up but Cormeir is controlling him
Exlax has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Cormeir is on him like a limpet, forcing Exlax back against the cage. Exlax landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Cormeir has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Exlax is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Cormeir tries to score a body lock takedown but Exlax shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Cormeir is breathing heavily. Exlax gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cormeir.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Exlax tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cormeir avoids it. Cormeir prevents a body shot from Exlax. Exlax working Cormeir over with knees to the body. Exlax landing knees to the head.
Exlax comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Cormeir takes a knee to the side of the body. Exlax lands a nice elbow from the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Cain Cormeir will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Exlax manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Exlax tries a body shot but Cormeir blocks it.

Cormeir is rocked! Exlax has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Exlax unloads a knee to the mid-section. Oh Cormeir is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Exlax lands an elbow inside that Cormeir shrugs off. Exlax works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. That's three minutes gone in the round. Exlax wants to pass the guard but Cormeir is keeping the position. Exlax looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Cormeir wants to hit a switch here but Exlax passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Cormeir there!
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Exlax tries to control but Cormeir wriggling away. Exlax controlling from the full mount. Exlax wants to control the pace but Cormeir is squirming around nicely. Exlax controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Exlax tries to clinch up. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Cormeir crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Exlax - the referee stops the clock and Cormeir gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Exlax. Cormeir manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Exlax lands with a hook. Cormeir tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Exlax misses with a looping right. Exlax getting the better of the striking in that exchange. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cormeir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Exlax tries to avoid it but Cormeir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Exlax to the ground. Exlax escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Cormeir tries for a takedown but Exlax sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Exlax sends Cormeir crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Exlax is motioning to the referee to let Cormeir up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! Cormeir with a poor takedown and Exlax scores with a counter punch that sends Cormeir to the canvas! Exlax smells blood - he's punishing Cormeir with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Cormeir has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Richard Exlax!
