Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Morten Guldhammer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jesse James! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guldhammer fails with the takedown and James counters with a series of strikes. Guldhammer will be more careful next time no doubt. James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. James is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Guldhammer will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. James stands up and beckons Guldhammer to his feet. James goes for a double leg but Guldhammer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Guldhammer continues to drive forward. Guldhammer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. James shoots in for a takedown but Guldhammer shows good takedown defense. James feints and as Guldhammer raises his hands in defense, James changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Guldhammer looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but James puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. James is trying to control the action in half guard but Guldhammer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. James is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Guldhammer! James can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Guldhammer is looking to escape. James is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Guldhammer is surviving well by controlling James's body position as best he can. James scoring with strikes but Guldhammer is staying in there. James scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Guldhammer?
James cracks Guldhammer with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. James looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for James but it's paid off an Guldhammer is forced to tap! Nice work by James.
