Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Burley Haines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mingo Deems (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Burley Haines has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Burley Haines seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Burley Haines! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mingo Deems! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Steve Montenegro and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deems leaves Haines with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Deems misses with the combination.
Haines looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Deems is looking to clinch. Mingo Deems seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Deems throws a head kick but Haines moves out of range.
Deems fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Deems lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Deems ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Deems throws a head kick that misses. Deems misses with the combination.
Haines fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Deems sprawls well initially but Haines persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Haines is taking a breather. Deems says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Haines throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Haines is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Deems keeping moving, preventing Haines from controlling successfully. Deems is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Haines wants to control from the top but Deems keeps moving. Haines looking to sit in guard and control but Deems gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Deems really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Haines. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Haines throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Deems escapes and throws Haines's legs to the side, diving into side control! Haines tries to buck Deems off but Deems is having none of it. Haines struggling a bit here. Deems wants to stand but Haines has his arm trapped. Haines wants to control but Deems postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Deems taking a breather here. Haines is looking to regain half guard here but Deems keeps moving and retains side control. Haines manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Deems won't allow Haines to pass to mount. Haines is nestled in close to Deems, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haines trying to control the action but Deems is working from the bottom. Haines content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Haines wants to take a breather but Deems is having none of it. Haines prevents Deems from standing back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Haines moves into full mount! Deems won't be happy about that! Deems told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Haines looking to control but Deems is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Haines tries to pass the half guard into mount. Deems knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Haines is looking for a kimura here.
Haines wants to pass the guard but Deems is defending well. Deems wants to get back to his feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Haines looks to land a left hand but Deems moved out of range nicely. Mingo Deems is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Haines dives in and grabs Deems's left leg, looking for a takedown. Deems pushes down on Haines's head and hops out. Deems shoots in but no luck this time. Deems leaves Haines with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Haines is trying hard to land a takedown here. Deems sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Burley Haines. That's going to take a lot out of him. Deems darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Haines looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Haines is trying to get back to full guard. Deems looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Deems is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Haines moves into full guard.
Haines wants to sweep here but Deems controlling him for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Burley Haines will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Deems fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Haines manages to avoid it. Haines darts in looking for a takedown but Deems gets double underhooks and turns Haines into the cage. Deems misses with a knee to the head. Haines working hard to break the clinch. Haines breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Deems scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Haines ducks under a wild hook from Deems. Haines takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Haines walks into a jab. Haines shoots for a takedown but Deems saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Haines has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Deems works the jab nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deems throws a sloppy head kick and Haines moves out of range easily. Deems misses with a head kick.
Haines stuffs the takedown. Haines misses with an uppercut
and Deems counters with a nice leg kick. A right-left combo lands from Haines. Deems scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Haines shoots in and gets a takedown into Deems's guard. Haines throws an elbow that misses. Deems uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Haines's guard. Nice move by Deems!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Deems stopping the sweep attempt from Haines.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Deems pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Haines is keeping the position for now. Haines pushes a forearm under Deems's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Deems is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Burley Haines! Burley Haines bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
