Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daken Akihiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akisame Hikaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hikaru is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ultimate Battle. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daken Akihiro! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Akisame Hikaru! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akihiro throws the left hand but Hikaru avoids the punch easily. Hikaru misses with a straight right. Akihiro definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. A chopping leg kick lands by Akihiro. Akihiro on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Akihiro is looking to score with low kicks. A jab from Hikaru misses. Hikaru misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Akihiro.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Akihiro. Hikaru shrugs it off though. A telegraphed right hand from Hikaru misses the target. A nice inside leg kick there by Akihiro. That's going to slow Hikaru down. An inside leg kick from Hikaru misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Akihiro takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. We've been informed that Hikaru has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Akihiro swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hikaru throws a front kick aimed at Akihiro's knee but Akihiro avoids it well. Hikaru closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hikaru lands in his opponent's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Akihiro managing to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Akihiro is trying to keep Hikaru in close.
Hikaru postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Akihiro controls Hikaru momentarily but Hikaru frees himself.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. A slow jab from Akihiro misses its intended target. Akihiro throws a body kick that misses. Hikaru keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Akihiro. Akihiro tries to work over Hikaru's front leg with a kick but Hikaru checks it. Daken Akihiro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hikaru connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Hikaru throws the left hand but Akihiro avoids the punch easily. Akihiro swings widly with a right hand
enabling Hikaru to counter with a crisp jab. Akihiro steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hikaru. Akihiro misses with a leg kick and Hikaru counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hikaru misses with a low kick. Daken Akihiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Akihiro connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Akihiro misses with a left hand and Akihiro takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Akihiro throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Akihiro throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hikaru slips under a jab from Akihiro. Akihiro defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hikaru. Hikaru dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hikaru scores with a hook to the body. Akihiro takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Akihiro lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. A bone on bone clash there as Hikaru blocks the leg kick.
Hikaru misses with a hook. Akihiro ducked under it nicely. Akihiro cracks Hikaru with a right hand to the side of the head. A chopping leg kick lands by Hikaru. Akihiro fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Akihiro misses with a body kick. Akihiro takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Hikaru throws out a loose jab but Akihiro uses good head movement to avoid it. Akihiro steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hikaru. Hikaru throws a leg kick and Akihiro counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Hikaru blocks the body kick.
Hikaru is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Akihiro. Hikaru throws a body shot but no joy. Hikaru swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hikaru fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Hikaru misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Daken Akihiro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akisame Hikaru. Hikaru lands a leg kick that knocks Akihiro off balance momentarily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Akisame Hikaru dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hikaru breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. An inside leg kick lands from Akihiro. Akihiro feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Hikaru's calf. Akihiro jabs Hikaru right on the nose. Hikaru blinks but takes it well. Hikaru avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Akihiro misses with a leg kick. Akihiro throws a leg kick which misses Hikaru's front leg but catches the back leg as Hikaru tries to avoid it. Hikaru uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Akihiro. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hikaru throws a hook but Akihiro blocks it. Hikaru's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Akihiro misses with a leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Akihiro steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hikaru. A clash of legs there as Akihiro blocks the low kick. Akihiro throws a nice outside leg kick. Hikaru misses the shot to the body. Akihiro closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Hikaru on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Hikaru moves into range and clinches up with Akihiro. Akihiro is pressed up against the cage. Hikaru has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Akihiro down to the mat. Akihiro avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Hikaru circles away from the clinch attempt.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hikaru. Hikaru stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Akihiro. Akihiro goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Hikaru thows a leg kick but Akihiro checks it and Akihiro counters with a head kick that drops Hikaru to the mat! Hikaru scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Hikaru is rocked! Hikaru throws a jab when Akihiro was well out of range. Hikaru is still on wobbly legs! Can Akihiro finish him? Akihiro lands an uppercut, right on the button! Hikaru tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Daken Akihiro! Daken Akihiro retains his lightweight title! A very excited looking Daken Akihiro rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed. Akisame Hikaru spoke after the fight, saying 'It was a great fight, I can't ask much more of myself, my opponent was very skilled.'.
