PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raiden Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Zinisky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Raiden Heath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Zinisky!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zinisky's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Heath connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Zinisky scrambles back to his feet.
Heath lands a nice looking body shot.
Raiden Heath seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Heath comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Zinisky takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Zinisky throws a leg kick but Heath moved away.
Heath cracks Zinisky with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A nice inside leg kick there by Heath. That's going to slow Zinisky down.
Heath throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Heath cracks Zinisky with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Heath dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Zinisky looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Heath connects with a looping right hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Heath with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Zinisky closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Zinisky throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Heath blocks it with crossed arms.
Heath is trying to pull guard but Zinisky has him pressed against the cage.

Heath gets control of Zinisky's arms and successfully pulls guard. Heath will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zinisky gets to his feet - Heath follows without any prompting.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zinisky takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Heath scores with a punch to the head.
Heath lands a head shot.
Zinisky misses with a low kick.

Zinisky has Heath up against the cage in a clinch.
Zinisky throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Heath blocks it with crossed arms.
Heath lands a left hand.
Heath tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Zinisky utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Heath is trying to pull guard but Zinisky has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Raiden Heath. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zinisky tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Heath pulls Zinisky into guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Heath's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Zinisky stands up and waves to Heath to follow him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Heath lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Heath tests Zinisky's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Heath has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Zinisky.
Zinisky takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Heath lands with a thumping leg kick.
A solid body kick from Zinisky.
Heath jabs Zinisky right on the nose. Zinisky blinks but takes it well.
Heath fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Zinisky looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Zinisky instigates a clinch.
Heath blocks an uppercut.
Zinisky tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Heath is working Zinisky over against the cage.

Heath ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Heath no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Heath working for a triangle but Zinisky defends it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Zinisky stands up from Heath's guard - Zinisky perhaps looking for a knockout.
Heath connects with a body shot.
Heath lands a nice looking body shot.

Zinisky gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Heath jumps guard but Zinisky turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Zinisky misses with a short punch on the inside.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Zinisky takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Heath jumps into guard, dragging Zinisky to the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Heath is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Heath is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Heath has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Zinisky can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Zinisky gets to his feet. Heath looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Zinisky takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Heath lands a jab to the head.
Heath scores with a nice strike.
Zinisky fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zinisky takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Heath thuds his right hand into Zinisky's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Zinisky darts in and clinches Heath up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raiden Heath dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Heath lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Heath avoids a kick to the body.
Raiden Heath is winning the standup battle so far.
Zinisky tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Zinisky gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Heath successfully pulls guard.
Heath is trying to keep Zinisky in close.

Heath has his foot on Zinisky's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zinisky works his way back into a safe position though.
Raiden Heath overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Heath looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Heath has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Zinisky doesn't defend quickly enough and Heath has managed to lock this one up! Can Zinisky escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Heath on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Raiden Heath!
Raiden Heath seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
