Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazushi Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves's entrance music is Rob Zombie - Scum of the earth . A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Alves throws a body punch but Sakuraba moves out of range.
Alves looks for the body kick but Sakuraba saw that one coming.
Alves thuds a left hand into Sakuraba's body.
Alves just misses with a punch to the body.
Alves missing with a left hand there. Sakuraba was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Sakuraba tries to keep at a distance but Alves has taken the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sakuraba fails to pull guard.
I was talking to Alves's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Sakuraba is working for takedown but Alves is calmly controlling the position for now.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sakuraba has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Sakuraba goes for a takedown in the clinch but Alves prevents it.
Fernando Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kazushi Sakuraba.
Sakuraba is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Alves pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Sakuraba tries to clinch but Alves is having none of it.
Alves punishes Sakuraba's body with a nice straight punch.
Sakuraba tries to move into range but Alves moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Sakuraba is trying hard to land a takedown here. Alves sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Alves tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sakuraba swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Alves scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Alves defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sakuraba.
Alves lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Sakuraba uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Alves.
Alves digs a good body shot into Sakuraba's ribs.
Alves moves into range and connects with a jab.

Fernando Alves is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Alves misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Alves misses with a hook. Sakuraba ducked under it nicely.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Alves.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alves slaps away a takedown attempt from Sakuraba, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sakuraba will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Alves drives through and clinches with Sakuraba against the cage.

Sakuraba shoots in looking for a takedown but Alves manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sakuraba's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Alves misses with a kick to the body.
Alves moves into range and connects with a jab.
Alves is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sakuraba can do to turn this around?

Sakuraba is rocked!
Alves circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Sakuraba to the canvas! Sakuraba doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Alves keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
