Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glenn Stroud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stroud comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Septic Flesh - Pyramid God kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jake Shields has the better chin. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Glenn Stroud! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Darius Henderson and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stroud moves into range and connects with a jab. A shot to the body from Stroud misses and Shields counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Stroud is not content to let Shields control the position. Shields is working for a submission of some sort.
Shields throwing shots but Stroud is blocking nicely. Stroud is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Shields is looking for a kimura but Stroud is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shields to get the leverage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shields not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Stroud tries to roll over but Shields keeps him under control. Stroud is looking to control Shields's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stroud avoid being mounted? Stroud looking for submissions off his back.

Shields is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Stroud is trying to maintain the position but Shields is very close to passing his half guard. Shields prevents Stroud from improving his position. Shields seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stroud does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Stroud trying to hold on to Shields's head to control him but Shields postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Stroud misses with a right hand and Shields counters with a nice double leg into guard. Stroud keeping moving, preventing Shields from controlling successfully. Shields missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shields working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Stroud keeping moving, preventing Shields from controlling successfully. Stroud looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shields throws a big right hand that misses. Stroud is pulling down on Shields's head. It's preventing any offense from Shields, at least for the moment. Stroud not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Stroud is fighting to maintain full guard but Shields has managed to sneak the leg through. Shields scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Stroud is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shields looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Stroud is concentrating on defense, preventing Shields from advancing position. Shields is pressing down on Stroud's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stroud is holding on for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shields is trying to control. Stroud wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Shields wants to work for an arm triangle but Stroud is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
