0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Archie Nelson! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Barsikovich swivels and escapes. Nelson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Barsikovich tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nelson is in Barsikovich's guard. Barsikovich working a defensive guard here.
Nelson passes into half guard. Nelson wants to free his trapped foot but Barsikovich is holding on for dear life with his legs. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nelson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Barsikovich tries to kick Nelson off but Nelson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nelson is pressing down on Barsikovich's thigh, looking to free his foot. Barsikovich is holding on for now. Nelson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Nelson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Barsikovich has managed to free his arm - good work. Barsikovich on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Barsikovich tries to get out of the position. Barsikovich tries to get to full guard but Nelson has control of the leg. Barsikovich is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nelson pulls his head out easily. Nelson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Barsikovich has given up his back. Will we see Nelson going for some submissions?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nelson has his arm under Barsikovich's chin here. Game over son! Nelson squeezes tightly and Barsikovich is forced to tap out!
