Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcel Adur! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matsumae Mioda! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adur instigates a clinch. Adur lands a nice knee to the body. Adur unloads a knee to the mid-section. Adur is working for takedown but Mioda is calmly controlling the position for now. Mioda drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Adur changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mioda fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mioda takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Marcel Adur seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mioda fails with the takedown. Mioda will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Marcel Adur has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matsumae Mioda. Mioda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Adur. Adur shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mioda sprawls well. Mioda wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Adur gets slowly back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adur changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mioda looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The strikes coming from Adur are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Mioda tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Adur is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Adur not allowing Mioda to control his hands. Adur looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Mioda taps!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Marcel Adur! Marcel Adur is the new lightweight champion! An out of breath Marcel Adur thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
