Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kid Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martez Cortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe's entrance music is (Ugly kid joe) Everything about you. A fine choice. Martez Cortega has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kid Joe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Martez Cortega! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cortega tries to close the distance and clinch but Joe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Joe swats away the attempt to clinch by Cortega. Cortega gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Cortega scores with a short punch from the bottom. Joe postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Joe landing some decent shots from guard. Joe sitting in guard, not really doing much. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cortega looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cortega doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cortega is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Joe sitting in guard, not really doing much. Cortega looking for a guillotine here but Joe defends easily.

Joe controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Joe has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Cortega trying to keep a closed guard but Joe is proving a slippery customer.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Cortega is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Decent striking displayed by Joe there. Joe seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Joe tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cortega is able to avoid easily. Cortega throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Joe's waist but Joe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cortega off to one side. Joe tries to clinch but Cortega is having none of it. Joe cracks Cortega with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Cortega throws the left hand but Joe avoids the punch easily. Joe is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cortega's half guard. Cortega missing with punches from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Joe looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Cortega is looking for a sweep. Joe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Joe sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Cortega defending well though. Cortega is trying to get back to full guard. Cortega manages to get to full guard.
Joe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Cortega has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Joe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cortega holds on and takes a little breather.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Joe content to stall in guard here. Cortega has his foot on Joe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joe works his way back into a safe position though. Cortega throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Joe landing with the ground and pound. Cortega not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Cortega is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kid Joe dominated that round. That's time! Joe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Joe closes the distance and clinches. Joe lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Joe tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. A short left from Joe. A nice left hand lands by Joe.
Cortega blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Joe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cortega can do to turn this around? Joe working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Joe misses with some punches.

Cortega is looking to break free of the clinch but Joe has double underhooks. Cortega changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Joe fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Cortega leaves Joe with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cortega moves in looking to clinch but Joe pushes him off. Joe thows a left - swing and a miss! Joe tried to score with a low kick but Cortega checks it. Cortega gets tackled into the cage by Joe. Joe maintains the clinch. Joe throws a head punch that misses. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Joe. Cortega pulls guard effortlessly. Joe content to stall in guard here. Cortega not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cortega keeps the fight on the outside.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Joe dives in and grabs Cortega's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cortega pushes down on Joe's head and hops out. Joe throws a hook but Cortega blocks it. An inside leg kick lands from Joe. Cortega gets caught flat footed, as Joe shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Joe is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Cortega has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Joe is looking to defend but Cortega has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Joe! Cortega pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Joe taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Martez Cortega! Martez Cortega decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
