Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ted Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergio Maurer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Ted Grant has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ted Grant seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ted Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sergio Maurer!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Maurer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Grant darts in and clinches Maurer up against the cage.
Maurer wants to break the clinch but can't.
Grant can't get the takedown.
Maurer lands a left hand that snaps the head of Grant backwards.
Grant looking for a takedown.
Maurer is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ted Grant. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Grant has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Maurer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Maurer just leaning against Grant, taking a breather.
Grant pulls Maurer into guard.
Grant has his hands on Maurer's head, controlling the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Grant counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Maurer prevents a takedown attempt there.

Grant has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Maurer uses from the top position.
Grant can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Maurer controls the pace.

Maurer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Maurer lands an uppercut.
Grant is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Grant tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Maurer's elbow.
Maurer throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Grants head.
Maurer lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Maurer prevents a takedown attempt there.
Grant tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Maurer just stands there and leans against the cage.
Grant is working for takedown but Maurer is calmly controlling the position for now.
Maurer has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Grant seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Maurer can turn it around.
Grant tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Maurer smiles and moves away.
Grant is breathing heavily.
Maurer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
BOOM! Maurer lands a beautiful left hook that drops Grant. Grant tries to recover but Maurer is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Grant lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sergio Maurer!
Sergio Maurer decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
