Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yas Uru! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruslan Boloev! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Uru darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Boloev fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Uru bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Boloev's head. Boloev tries for a takedown but Uru sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Boloev shoots in for a double leg but Uru sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Yas Uru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ruslan Boloev. Boloev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Boloev shoots in for a takedown but Uru shows good takedown defense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boloev closes the distance and clinches up with Uru, looking for a takedown. Boloev pushes Uru against the cage but Uru circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Boloev closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Uru to the mat! Uru manages to get full guard. Uru being controlled here, momentarily. Uru on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Uru tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boloev connects with a couple of short punches. Uru keeping moving, preventing Boloev from controlling successfully. Uru is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Boloev is controlling him. Boloev controlling from the top position. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Boloev's corner. There ya go! There ya go! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Uru wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Boloev manages to pass to side control. Uru is trying to stand up here but Boloev is controlling him well. Boloev is nestled in close to Uru, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Boloev takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Boloev trying to mount his opponent but Uru defends it. Boloev throwing shots but Uru is blocking nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boloev trying to mount his opponent but Uru defends it. Boloev passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Uru! Boloev working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Uru looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Boloev! Submission of the night perhaps?
