Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Public Enemy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Whales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Enemy comes into the arena with (Silence) blaring out of the sound system. Whales has chosen AC/DC - Shoot To Thrill as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
36 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Public Enemy! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Whales! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Enemy wants to clinch up but Whales keeps it at a distance. Nice uppercut there from Enemy. Good shot there by Whales. Whales takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Whales. Enemy connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Whales checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Whales has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Enemy moves out of range as Whales strikes. Whales tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Enemy defends well and Whales ends up having to push Enemy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Whales blocks a punch to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Whales fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Enemy lands on the inside with an uppercut. Enemy has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Whales blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whales keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Enemy's efforts to push away. Whales letting Enemy take a breather here. Enemy misses with a punch on the inside.

Enemy prevents a body shot from Whales. Enemy effectively controlling the action here. Whales tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Whales blocking some punches.
Whales has Enemy pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Enemy manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Enemy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Enemy controls Whales momentarily but Whales frees himself. Whales landing with the ground and pound. Whales wants to control from the top but Enemy keeps moving. Whales is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Enemy holds on and takes a little breather. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Whales has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Enemy cracks the inside of Whales's front leg. Enemy cracks Whales with an open hand slap. Public Enemy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Enemy lands a lovely overhand right. We've been told by Enemy's head coaches at Gutz Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Enemy missing with a left hand there. Whales was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Enemy fails in his attempt to clinch. Enemy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Whales postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Whales wants to control from the top but Enemy keeps moving. Whales missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Enemy has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Whales slips nicely into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Public Enemy will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

That's one minute gone in the round. Enemy pushes Whales away with a front kick. Whales keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Public Enemy is winning the standup battle so far. Whales tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Enemy misses with a body shot.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Enemy, right into the meat.
Enemy takes one to the chin there. Whales tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Enemy swivels and escapes. Public Enemy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Whales. Whales takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Whales throws a hook to the side of Enemy's head but Enemy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Enemy looks to clinch and Whales decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Enemy's guard. Whales trying to control but Enemy is working from the bottom. Whales is looking to work some ground and pound but Enemy has wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whales content to stall in guard here. Whales stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Enemy swivels though and keeps the full guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Enemy is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Enemy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Whales gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Whales in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Whales trying to control the position from guard on top but Enemy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Enemy is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Whales connects with a leg kick. Enemy looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Nice body kick from Enemy. Enemy checks a leg kick. Whales uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Enemy. Enemy throws a jab when Whales was well out of range. Whales throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Enemy's waist but Enemy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Whales off to one side. Enemy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Whales. That did some damage! Enemy keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Whales is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Whales tries to work over Enemy's front leg with a kick but Enemy checks it. Enemy with a jab. Enemy cracks Whales with a good jab. Enemy misses with a wild body shot. Whales lands a nice leg kick that just misses Enemy's sensitive parts. Whales wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Whales closes this distance looking for a takedown but Enemy circles away. Enemy misses with a jab to the body
and Whales counters with a takedown into side control. Whales working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Whales wants to lay and pray for a moment but Enemy keeps working. Patrick Whales has got the better of the ground game so far. Enemy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Public Enemy will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Whales postures up in Enemy's guard and throws a big left but Enemy blocks it. Enemy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Whales throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Enemy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Enemy connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Whales throws a predictable looking body shot
and Enemy counters with a nice leg kick. A slow jab from Whales misses its intended target. Enemy thuds his shin into the meat of Whales's side. Whales throws a leg kick that is checked and Enemy counters with a nice low kick that buckles Whales's knee momentarily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Whales scores with a jab to the jaw. No joy there for Enemy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Whales throws an overhand right that lands on Enemy's shoulder, as Enemy tries to avoid the shot. Whales shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Enemy pinned against the cage. Enemy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Enemy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Whales. Public Enemy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Whales. Enemy swings away with a body shot that misses

Whales wants to take a breather but Enemy is having none of it. Enemy is holding on to half guard well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Whales content to control rather than advance. Patrick Whales dominated that fourth round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Public Enemy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Enemy ducks under a wild hook from Whales. A nice leg kick lands there from Enemy. Whales attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

The fight is ruled a majority draw! Public Enemy retains his title. It's always disappointing when a championship fight ends as a draw but that's what happens when you leave the fight in the judges hands!
