Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Benny Dorsey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alan Treanor! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dorsey chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Treanor can pounce on him.
Dorsey stuffs the takedown. Treanor shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dorsey is trying to defend but Treanor finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Dorsey pushes Treanor off looking to stand but Treanor dives back in and keeps control.
Treanor looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Treanor is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Treanor controlling the action here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Treanor prevents Dorsey from standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Treanor is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Treanor is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Treanor not doing much here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Treanor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Treanor throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Treanor lands a few punches from side control. Dorsey really is a fat lump. Dorsey wants to control but Treanor postures up. Dorsey wants to get back to his feet but Treanor drags him back down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Treanor tries to advance to mount but Dorsey denies him. Treanor has control of an arm but Dorsey manages to advance to Treanor's back! Treanor is trying to stand back up. Treanor is in bad spot here.
Treanor is still trying to improve position. Treanor controlling Dorsey 's hands. Dorsey is persistently looking for the submission but Treanor is defending it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dorsey has the hooks in. Treanor is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Even with his hooks in, Dorsey manages to miss with strikes from the back. Treanor can't escape the position.
Dorsey is really struggling to control Treanor but he's trying to hold on to the position. Dorsey is breathing heavily.
Alan Treanor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dorsey is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Treanor is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
