Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michal Materla! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frank Good! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Materla misses with a takedown attempt - Good sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Good tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Materla defends well and Good ends up having to push Materla into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Materla doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Good tries to land a knee to the head but Materla blocks with his arms.
Good tries to score a body lock takedown but Materla shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Materla has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Good after a bit of a struggle. Good is fighting off a takedown attempt but Materla is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Good to the mat. Good regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Materla in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Good trying to control the position.
Materla tries to free his leg and advance position but Good is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Good wants to sweep here but Materla controlling him for the moment. Materla trying to control the position from guard on top but Good is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Materla preventing the sweep. Good working a defensive guard but Materla passes into half guard.
Materla is trying to work for a kimura but Good is defending well.
Materla wants to free his trapped foot but Good is holding on for dear life with his legs. Materla thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Materla trying to pass the guard but Good defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Materla throwing shots but Good is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Materla looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Materla seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Good does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Good throws a series of punches but Materla avoids them all with ease. Materla has been working on his balance at Cozad Amsterdam, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Good. Materla shoots in and drives through. Good sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michal Materla. That's going to take a lot out of him. Good dodges the punch combination from Materla.

He's pushed Good's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Good tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Materla paws at him with a jab and circles away. Materla shoots in but Good avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Materla closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Good avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Materla. Good is trying to stand up here but Materla is controlling him well. Materla throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Materla sitting and controlling from the half guard. Good wants to improve his position but Materla is controlling well.
Materla not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Good flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Good tries to get to full guard but Materla has control of the leg. Materla seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Materla tries to score a power double leg takedown but Good sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Materla somewhat. Good with a poor takedown and Materla decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Good's guard. Good really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Materla. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Good throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Materla wants to control from the top but Good keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michal Materla dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Good has his takedown stuffed and Materla counters by clinching up. Good drags the fight down to the ground.
Materla works over Good with some ground and pound from guard. Good wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Materla is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Good can do to turn this around? Materla wanted to stand there but Good had control of the position. Michal Materla overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Michal Materla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Materla looks to score with a jab to the body but Good is just out of range. Good stuffs the takedown attempt from Materla. Materla gets slowly back to his feet. Materla throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Good tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Materla is in Good's guard. Materla stopping the sweep attempt from Good. Good keeping full guard, as Materla tries to pass. Materla passes easily into side control. Nice work. Materla trying to control the position but Good is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Good takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Good wants to control but Materla postures up. Good is trying to improve his position. Materla tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Materla looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Materla has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Good is looking to regain half guard here but Materla keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Materla tries to stand but Good is controlling his head. Materla lands some shots froms side control. A control attempt from Good but he's now mounted! Materla looking to secure an arm triangle but Good defends it well. Good throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Materla wants to control the pace but Good is squirming around nicely. Materla stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Good closes this distance looking for a takedown but Materla circles away. Good shoots in for a takedown but Materla shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Michal Materla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Good. Good stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Good wants it to stay on the feet. Materla avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Materla closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Good did well to prevent Materla getting side control. Materla wants to stand up but Good has a hold of him and won't allow it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Materla thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Materla wants to lay and pray for a moment but Good keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michal Materla dominated that second round. That's time! Materla's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Materla is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Good gets caught napping as Materla dives in and scores a takedown. Good manages to retain guard. Materla forces his way into half guard. Materla is trying to control the action in half guard but Good is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Materla looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Good is looking to control Materla's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Good avoid being mounted? Materla is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Good is just riding it out for now. Materla eventually gives up the hold.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Materla trying to control the pace. Materla is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Materla is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Good knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Materla controls the position. Good can't do much from the bottom here. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Good is not content to let Materla control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Materla fails with an attempt to clinch.
Good shoots in looking for a takedown. Materla tries to sprawl out of it but Good keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Materla manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Good closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Good lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Good wants to control from the top but Materla keeps moving. Michal Materla is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that's the end of the fight! Michal Materla showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Materla, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
