PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lord Seraphim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lord Seraphim told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tyson Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lord Seraphim!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walker closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Seraphim did well to prevent Walker getting side control.

Walker stands up and beckons Seraphim to join him on the feet.
Seraphim cracks Walker with an open hand slap.

Seraphim gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Seraphim working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Walker doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Walker manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Walker wants to control from the top but Seraphim keeps moving.

Seraphim had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Walker defends it easily.

Seraphim is looking for a triangle but Walker pushes his legs off easily.
Walker trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Seraphim looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Seraphim is trying to keep Walker in close.
Walker working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Walker content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Walker trying to control but Seraphim is working from the bottom.

Walker trying to control the position from guard on top but Seraphim is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Seraphim wants to improve his position but instead Walker has moved into half guard.

Seraphim is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Walker wants to pass the guard but Seraphim is defending well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Walker lands a nice short elbow.

Seraphim actively working from the bottom here.

Seraphim is looking for a sweep. Walker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Seraphim works his way to full guard. Good work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Seraphim can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walker controls the pace.
Walker wants to control from the top but Seraphim keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seraphim gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Walker to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Seraphim is working an open guard so Walker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Walker swats away the attempt to clinch by Seraphim.

Seraphim gets caught flat footed, as Walker shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Walker is pushing down on Seraphim's leg trying to pass to half guard. Seraphim is fighting to maintain full guard but Walker has managed to sneak the leg through.

Walker is working for a submission of some sort.
Tyson Walker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Walker is pressing down on Seraphim's thigh, looking to free his foot. Seraphim is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Walker is keen to just control but Seraphim is a slippery customer.
Walker is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Walker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Seraphim can do to turn this around?

Seraphim is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Walker pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Walker lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Seraphim is looking for a sweep. Walker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Seraphim wants to control but Walker is keeping busy.

Walker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Seraphim does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Walker passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Seraphim!
Seraphim tries to hold on but Walker postures up.

Walker is landing with strikes. Seraphim can't take much more of this.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Walker controlling the positon.

Walker is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Walker has the hooks in. Seraphim is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Walker is not going to allow Seraphim to sit and survive in this position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tyson Walker dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Walker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Seraphim paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A head kick misses from Seraphim.
Seraphim connects with a leg kick. Walker looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Seraphim lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Seraphim ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Walker drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Seraphim can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Walker controls the pace.
Walker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Seraphim escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walker makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Seraphim is looking for a triangle but Walker pushes his legs off easily.

Seraphim has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Walker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Seraphim takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Walker controls from within his opponent's guard.
Walker trying to control but Seraphim is working from the bottom.
Seraphim looking for a sweep. Not yet Seraphim, not yet.
Walker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Seraphim looking to control but Walker passes into half guard.
Seraphim moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Walker gets to his feet. Seraphim looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Seraphim tries to clinch but Walker moves out of range.
Walker blocks a head kick by Seraphim.
Seraphim throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Walker shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Seraphim's guard.
Walker advances position into side control!
Seraphim is not content to let Walker control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Seraphim is trying to work for a sweep but Walker has mounted him!
Walker looking to control and managing it successfully.
Seraphim can't escape the position.
Walker takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Walker wants to finish this one by submission but Seraphim is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Walker.

Seraphim sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Walker is thwarting Seraphim's attempts to control the position.
Walker is trying to control. Seraphim wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Lord Seraphim has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Seraphim slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Oh but Seraphim is tightening it up a little... Walker has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Walker reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Walker taps out! Nice BJJ there by Seraphim!
