Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mick Mutters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josiah Bartlet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mutters comes into the arena with Hand of Doom blaring out of the sound system. Bartlet comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Gary Numan- Praying to the Alien kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mick Mutters could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Josiah Bartlet's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mick Mutters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josiah Bartlet! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mutters has Bartlet up against the cage in a clinch.
Bartlet's coach down at Bruize Brothers was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Bartlet's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Bartlet using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mutters has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Bartlet can't find room to land a body shot as Mutters controls the action.
Mutters scores with an uppercut up the middle. Mutters lands with a short shot to the head. Bartlet misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mutters.
Mutters misses with a short punch on the inside. Bartlet misses with a short punch on the inside. Bartlet trying to land knees to the body.
Mutters comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Bartlet blocks a punch to the side of the head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bartlet misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mutters.
Bartlet has Mutters pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bartlet pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mutters tumbling to the mat - Bartlet dives into Mutters's guard. Mutters preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bartlet won't allow Mutters to get back to his feet. Mutters looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bartlet is one step ahead there. Bartlet controlling from the top position. Bartlet throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mutters works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Bartlet trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mutters wants to stand and escape but Bartlet is having none of it. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bartlet throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mutters works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Mutters clinches up with Bartlet and pushes him back against the cage. Bartlet has clasped his hands together around Mutters's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Mutters tries to escape but Bartlet is in control. Bartlet is putting a hurting on Mutters here, landing some big shots from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mutters takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Bartlet lands a nice forearm strike. Mutters is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bartlet asserts his dominance and retains side control. Bartlet in side control, throwing shots but Mutters defends.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bartlet trying to control the position but Mutters is working away. Mutters tries to escape but Bartlet is in control. Bartlet postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Mutters is trying to buck Bartlet off. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Mutters is looking to reverse the position. Mutters is not content to let Bartlet control the position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Bartlet decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Bartlet with the ground and pound but Mutters uses the opportunity to regain guard. Bartlet in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bartlet is looking to work some ground and pound but Mutters has wrist control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bartlet seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Bartlet in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Mutters wants to stand but Bartlet is controlling the position. Bartlet trying to control the position from guard on top but Mutters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bartlet postures up in Mutters's guard and throws a big left but Mutters blocks it.

Josiah Bartlet dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Mutters tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bartlet paws at him with a jab and circles away. Bartlet lands a lovely overhand right. Bartlet circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bartlet is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Mutters with a body shot. Bartlet thuds his shin into the meat of Mutters's side. Mutters looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Mick Mutters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mutters checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Bartlet misses with a low kick. Mutters wants to clinch up but Bartlet keeps it at a distance. A momentary lapse in concentration from Mutters enables Bartlet to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mutters manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Mutters wants to get back to his feet but Bartlet is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Bartlet postures up in Mutters's guard and throws a big left but Mutters blocks it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mutters wants to stand but Bartlet is controlling the position. Josiah Bartlet has got the better of the ground game so far. Bartlet wants to control from the top but Mutters keeps moving. Bartlet postures up in Mutters's guard and throws a big left but Mutters blocks it.

Bartlet must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bartlet in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bartlet keeps the fight on the outside. Bartlet tries to keep at a distance but Mutters has taken the fight into the clinch. Bartlet has picked Mutters up - he's going for a ride! Bartlet dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Nice strikes from Bartlet there. Bartlet looks to land a strike but Mutters avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Bartlet working some strikes from top position. Bartlet trying to control the position from guard on top but Mutters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bartlet missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Mutters is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Bartlet with a flurry of punches that miss.

Mutters cracks Bartlet with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Bartlet throws a front kick that sends Mutters stumbling back into the cage. Mutters moves in looking to clinch but Bartlet pushes him off. Mutters tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bartlet paws at him with a jab and circles away. Bartlet shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mutters eats them both and turns towards Bartlet to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Mutters is looking to clinch but Bartlet is avoiding it.
Bartlet looking to score a takedown here. Mutters is defending well but Bartlet drives through and ends up in Mutters's guard. Mutters working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bartlet. Bartlet trying to control the position from guard on top but Mutters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mutters is looking to stand up but Bartlet isn't so interested in that idea. Bartlet is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mutters wants to stand up but Bartlet is controlling him. Bartlet scoring with punches to the head and body. Bartlet missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Bartlet loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Mutters takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Mutters tries to clinch up but Bartlet circles away and keeps his distance. Mutters wants to clinch. Bartlet has been the more effective fighter overall so far. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bartlet ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mutters moves away. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bartlet swats away the attempt to clinch by Mutters. Excellent takedown into side control there by Bartlet. Bartlet in side control, throwing shots but Mutters defends. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Josiah Bartlet showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Bartlet drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bartlet throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Bartlet trying to control the position but Mutters is working away. Mutters takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Bartlet passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Mutters! Mutters is trying to escape the mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bartlet looking to ground and pound but Mutters is blocking nicely. Bartlet throws some wild stikes that Mutters manages to avoid easily.

Mutters is looking to improve his position but Bartlet isn't that keen on the idea. Bartlet landing strikes from the mount. Mutters is bucking up trying to escape but Bartlet cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Mutters tries to buck Bartlet off but he can't manage it. Bartlet unloads with some shots from mount but Mutters bucks and avoids them well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bartlet working away from the top, dropping strikes. Mutters takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
