Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, PJ Benn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Abiodun Havilah !
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Havilah gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Benn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Havilah pinned against the cage. Havilah gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Havilah has Benn up against the cage in a clinch.
Havilah jumps into guard, dragging Benn to the mat.
Havilah looking for a sweep. Not yet Havilah , not yet.
Benn has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Benn would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Benn works over Havilah with some ground and pound from guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Havilah pushes Benn off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Benn tries to bum rush Havilah with a series of wild strikes but Havilah uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Havilah counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Benn takes an elbow to the temple.
Havilah gets control of Benn's arms and successfully pulls guard. Havilah will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Benn wants to stand but Havilah has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Havilah moves into the clinch.
Havilah dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Havilah lands a knee to the body.
Havilah lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Benn takes an elbow to the forehead.
Havilah has picked Benn up - he's going for a ride! Havilah dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Havilah content to control rather than advance.
Havilah decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Havilah has Benn up against the cage in a clinch.
Havilah pulls guard.
Havilah lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Benn throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Havilah escapes and throws Benn's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Benn looking for a sweep but Havilah has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Benn tries to hold on but Havilah pushes him away.
Havilah controlling the pace for now.
Havilah 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Benn can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Abiodun Havilah dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!
Benn gets caught flat footed, as Havilah shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Benn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Havilah doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Havilah manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Havilah stands and steps away. Benn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Havilah closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Havilah content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Havilah connects with a knee to the head.
Havilah will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Benn up against the cage.

Havilah 's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Oh Benn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
PJ Benn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Havilah looking to score a takedown here. Benn is defending well but Havilah drives through and ends up in Benn's guard.
Havilah passes into half guard.
Benn won't allow Havilah to pass to mount.
Havilah moves nicely into side control.
Benn seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Havilah controls the position.
Let's hope that Havilah has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Havilah stands up and beckons Benn to his feet.
Good shot there by Havilah .
Havilah cracks a nice hook into Benn's ribs.
Havilah throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Benn colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Havilah as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Benn is left battered and dazed whilst Havilah and his camp cheer!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Abiodun Havilah !
