PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Brawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kanga Roos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brawler comes into the arena with Ensiferum - Into Battle blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, The Brawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kanga Roos!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brawler throws a series of punches but Roos avoids them all with ease.
Roos misses with a wild combination.
Roos wants to clinch
and Brawler counters with an outside leg kick.
Brawler fakes the leg kick and cracks Roos in the body.
Roos tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Brawler is able to avoid easily.
Roos tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Brawler counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Roos is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Roos misses with a two punch combination.
Roos throws a leg kick but Brawler moved away.
Brawler buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Roos closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Brawler quickly recovers to half guard.
Brawler on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Brawler tries to get out of the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roos is looking to take a break and control but Brawler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Roos working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Brawler desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Brawler regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Roos.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Roos trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Brawler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Brawler definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Brawler seems keen to control Roos's posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Roos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Brawler manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Roos has Brawler in his guard.

Brawler slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brawler stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Roos swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brawler knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roos on the ground.
Roos is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brawler is controlling him.
Roos looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Brawler puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Brawler trying to mount his opponent but Roos defends it.
Roos wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roos regains full guard. Nicely done.
Roos is looking to stand back up but Brawler counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Roos.
Brawler looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Roos tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Brawler manages to move to mount!
Roos can't escape the position.
Roos manages to regain half guard. Good work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roos works his way to full guard. Good work.
Brawler prevents Roos from getting back to his feet.
Brawler slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roos manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Roos is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Brawler keeping full guard, as Roos tries to pass.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brawler looking for a sweep. Not yet Brawler, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that The Brawler will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Roos stalks Brawler and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Brawler's face. Brawler staggers backwards, shaken.
Roos tries to clinch but Brawler moves away
and Brawler counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Roos shoots for a takedown but Brawler saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A low kick from Roos misses
and Brawler counters with a nice low kick that buckles Roos's knee momentarily.
Roos tries to clinch up
and Brawler counters with a leg kick.

Brawler lands a big head kick that sends Roos tumbling to the mat! Brawler takes a step backwards and waves Roos back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Kanga Roos has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Roos on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Brawler. Brawler obviously looking to wear him down.
Brawler drops Roos with a big left hand! Roos is injured, injured bad! Brawler jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Brawler!
Our winner, The Brawler, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
