Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derick Trotter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derick Trotter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randy Lawler!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Trotter.
Lawler wants to clinch
and Trotter makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Lawler tries to clinch but Trotter moves away
and Trotter counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Lawler closes the distance looking to clinch

and Trotter counters by moving into the clinch.
Trotter pushes Lawler back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Lawler has Trotter pressed against the cage, preventing Trotter from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The referee is keeping an eye on Lawler - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Trotter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lawler darts in trying to clinch
and Lawler takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lawler has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Lawler there as he acknowledges the shot.

Lawler is rocked!

Trotter gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lawler is still on wobbly legs! Can Trotter finish him?
Lawler will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Trotter up against the cage.
Lawler seems to have recovered his senses.
Lawler lands a body shot in the clinch.

Trotter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Trotter throws a right and a left that Lawler avoids nicely.
Lawler closes the distance looking to clinch
and Trotter counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Trotter counters with a series of strikes. Lawler will be more careful next time no doubt.
Randy Lawler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Trotter cracks Lawler with an uppercut from hell and Lawler crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Trotter's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Trotter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Trotter gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Trotter throws a quick inside leg kick.
Trotter is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Lawler moves to clinch but Trotter breaks away
and Trotter counters with a left to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Trotter scores with a shot to the body.
Lawler tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Lawler takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Trotter has Lawler up against the cage in a clinch.

Trotter breaks the clinch.

Trotter clinches.
Lawler manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Lawler blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Trotter tries a body shot but Lawler blocks it.
Trotter lands a right hand that snaps the head of Lawler backwards.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Trotter.
Trotter misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Trotter lands a body shot.
Trotter fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lawler working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Trotter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Trotter counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Trotter can't break the clinch.
Trotter misses with a punch to the body.
Trotter is trying to push Lawler away but Lawler has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Trotter lands a body shot in the clinch.

Trotter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Trotter counters with a series of strikes. Lawler will be more careful next time no doubt.

Lawler looks winded!
Trotter slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Lawler takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Lawler moves out of range of the leg kick from Trotter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derick Trotter dominated that round.
That's time! Trotter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Trotter throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Lawler's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Trotter dives in looking to finish as Lawler flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Trotter's strikes! Trotter is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Lawler's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Lawler was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Derick Trotter!
