Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pancho Gonzales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ingvar Ingvarson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ingvarson stuffs the takedown attempt from Gonzales. Gonzales gets slowly back to his feet. Gonzales shoots in looking for a takedown. Ingvarson tries to sprawl out of it but Gonzales keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ingvarson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Gonzales shoots for a double leg takedown but Ingvarson sprawls well. He's pushed Gonzales's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pancho Gonzales. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ingvarson shoots and misses and Gonzales counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ingvarson won't be happy with that. Ingvarson wants to control but Gonzales postures up. Ingvarson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Gonzales thumps the canvas. Ingvarson scores a takedown into full mount! Gonzales tries to reverse the position but Ingvarson maintains control. Ingvarson cracks Gonzales with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. He's hooked one of Ingvarson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ingvarson's back! Ingvarson has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Ingvarson grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Ingvarson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Ingvarson is trying to get back to his feet but Gonzales has full control of the position and if anything, Ingvarson has just worked his way into a worse spot. Gonzales lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. Ingvarson trying to control the hands but Gonzales breaks the grip. Gonzales has the hooks in. Ingvarson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Ingvarson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Gonzales connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Ingvarson to escape the position.

Pancho Gonzales has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ingvarson has control of Gonzales's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gonzales regains control of the situation pretty easily.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pancho Gonzales. Well Ingvarson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
