PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ruslan Boloev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yas Uru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yas Uru will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruslan Boloev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yas Uru!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uru lands with an overhand left.
Boloev uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Uru.
Uru thows a left - swing and a miss!
Boloev shoots in looking for a takedown. Uru tries to sprawl out of it but Boloev keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Uru manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Uru throws out a powerful jab.
Boloev shoots in for a takedown but Uru shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boloev shoots for a double leg takedown but Uru sprawls well. He's pushed Boloev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Boloev shoots in looking for a takedown but Uru manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Boloev's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Uru counters with a nice uppercut.
Boloev moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Boloev shoots for a double leg takedown but Uru sprawls well. He's pushed Boloev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A left lands for Uru.
Boloev has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Boloev there as he acknowledges the shot.
Boloev shoots in but Uru avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Uru connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

and Uru counters with a nice uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boloev throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Uru's waist but Uru gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boloev off to one side.

Boloev shoots in for a takedown but Uru shows good takedown defense.
The fighters circle momentarily. Uru darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Uru cracks Boloev with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Boloev misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Boloev with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Uru to score with a decent uppercut.
A punch lands to the side of Boloev 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Uru is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Uru displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Boloev.

Boloev dives in and grabs Uru's left leg, looking for a takedown. Uru pushes down on Boloev's head and hops out.
Nice straight punches there by Uru. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Uru.
This has been an exciting period of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uru connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Uru connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Boloev's hands.
Boloev shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Uru throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Yas Uru seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Uru slaps away a takedown attempt from Boloev, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Boloev will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Uru might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Uru connects with a right hand. Boloev shakes it off.
Boloev looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Boloev moves out of range of the strikes.
Yas Uru is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Uru lands a really nice looking cross but Boloev seems unphased.
Boloev fails to land the takedown.

Boloev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Uru sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Boloev somewhat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boloev wants to take the fight to the mat but Uru manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Yas Uru showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Uru has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Uru gets caught napping as Boloev dives in and scores a takedown. Uru manages to retain guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boloev is defended easily by Uru.
Uru keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Boloev takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
