The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Daddio. Daddio shoots for a takedown but Parp Cannon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Daddio shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Parp Cannon pinned against the cage. Parp Cannon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Daddio. That's going to take a lot out of him. Daddio takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Parp Cannon lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Daddio has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Daddio and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Daddio shoots in for a takedown but Parp Cannon shows good takedown defense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Parp Cannon on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Parp Cannon has eaten all the pies! Daddio avoids the head kick by Parp Cannon.
Daddio closes this distance looking for a takedown but Parp Cannon circles away. Parp Cannon throws a quick inside leg kick.

Daddio throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Parp Cannon counters with a single leg into guard. Daddio didn't expect that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Daddio is breathing heavily. Daddio utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Parp Cannon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Daddio works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Parp Cannon wants to control from the top but Daddio keeps moving. Parp Cannon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Daddio looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Parp Cannon doesn't manage to clinch there - Daddio circles away.

He's got his arms around Daddio's waist but Daddio gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Parp Cannon off to one side. Daddio with a lazy takedown attempt and Parp Cannon counters with a nice leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Parp Cannon looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Parp Cannon fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Daddio. Parp Cannon tries to clinch up but Daddio circles away and keeps his distance. Parp Cannon tries a head kick but it misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Parp Cannon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Daddio wants to get back to his feet.
Parp Cannon is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Daddio pulls his head out easily. Parp Cannon is looking to control Daddio's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Parp Cannon avoid being mounted? Parp Cannon is staying active underneath Daddio, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Parp Cannon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Parp Cannon has his hands on Daddio's head, controlling the position. Parp Cannon wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Parp Cannon pushes Daddio off and gets back to his feet.
Parp Cannon bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Daddio with a lazy takedown attempt and Parp Cannon counters with a shoot takedown. Daddio fights it but they end up in guard. Daddio keeping full guard, as Parp Cannon tries to pass. Daddio working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Parp Cannon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Parp Cannon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Parp Cannon passes easily into side control. Nice work. Parp Cannon pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Nice body kick from Parp Cannon. A slow jab from Daddio misses its intended target. Daddio has a takedown stuffed. Daddio throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Parp Cannon. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A slapping leg kick lands for Parp Cannon.
Parp Cannon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Daddio is fending him off so far but Parp Cannon persists. Nope, Daddio circles away and we're back to standing. Parp Cannon throws a sloppy head kick and Daddio moves out of range easily. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parp Cannon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Parp Cannon avoids the attempt from Daddio to control. Parp Cannon content just to control the position here. Parp Cannon wants to control the pace but Daddio is squirming around nicely. Parp Cannon is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Daddio has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Daddio is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Parp Cannon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Daddio is looking to escape. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Daddio is looking to get to half guard. Daddio bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Parp Cannon wants to stand and escape but Daddio is having none of it. Parp Cannon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Daddio! Daniel Parp Cannon has got the better of the ground game so far. Daddio regains half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Daddio has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Parp Cannon is working away from the top position though. Parp Cannon content to control rather than advance. Parp Cannon is thwarting Daddio's attempts to control the position. Parp Cannon sitting and controlling from the half guard. Parp Cannon is pressing down on Daddio's thigh, looking to free his foot. Daddio is holding on for now. Daddio looking for submissions off his back. Daddio trying to hold on to Parp Cannon's head to control him but Parp Cannon postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Parp Cannon tries a head kick but it misses.

Daniel Parp Cannon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Parp Cannon wants to pass to mount but Daddio is defending the position. Parp Cannon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Daddio is looking to improve his position.

Parp Cannon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Parp Cannon works a leg free and moves into half guard. Parp Cannon keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Parp Cannon moves into full mount! Daddio won't be happy about that! Daddio wants to hold on but Parp Cannon pushes him away. Daddio throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parp Cannon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Daddio is looking to escape. Daddio sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Parp Cannon prevents Daddio from improving his position. Parp Cannon takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Parp Cannon is looking to take a break and control but Daddio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Daddio lands with a few short shots to the body.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Daddio scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Parp Cannon doesn't seem bothered though. Excellent takedown into side control there by Daddio. Daddio goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Parp Cannon rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Daddio's guard! Nice work there by Parp Cannon! Parp Cannon trying to control the position from guard on top but Daddio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Parp Cannon tries to free his leg and advance position but Daddio is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Daddio pushes a forearm under Parp Cannon's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Parp Cannon is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
