PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mica Gavric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Kocur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). He arrived on a last minute flight shortly after looking tired and unhappy. Officials decided the fight should still take place, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mica Gavric and Joey Kocur. Gavric comes into the arena with Frank Zappa - Cocaine Decisions blaring out of the sound system. Kocur has chosen Head Crusher - Megadeth as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from Kocur lands.
Kocur throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kocur cracks a nice hook into Gavric's ribs.
Gavric moves into the clinch.
Gavric blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Gavric tries to pull guard but Kocur forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kocur creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Gavric tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kocur smiles and moves away.
Kocur fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gavric is out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kocur darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Gavric is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kocur to keep the fight standing.

Gavric jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kocur walks away with a smile on his face. Gavric gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That was a close round but I would say that Mica Gavric will probably get the nod.

Gavric is pulling down on Kocur's head. It's preventing any offense from Kocur, at least for the moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Kocur is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Kocur's jab looks to have found its range, popping Gavric under the eye.

Joey Kocur showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Gavric's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Kocur creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Gavric with a big uppercut! Gavric tries to clinch up but Kocur pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Gavric to the mat! Gavric covers up and Kocur unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
