Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Tyrone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tomas Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Drew Tyrone!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tyrone has closed the distance and engaged Edwards in a clinch.
Tyrone looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Tyrone manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Edwards throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Edwards gets to his feet. Tyrone looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Edwards closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Edwards lands in his opponent's guard.
Edwards content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tyrone has a closed guard, preventing Edwards from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Edwards stands up from Tyrone's guard - Edwards perhaps looking for a knockout.
Edwards shoots in and drives through. Tyrone sprawls well.

Edwards looks for a takedown but Tyrone sprawls well.
Edwards takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Tyrone takes a swing at Edwards's ribcage but misses.
Edwards moves in looking to clinch but Tyrone pushes him off.
Tyrone is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Edwards tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tyrone manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Tyrone darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Edwards kicks Tyrone off and gets back to his feet.
Tyrone swings widly with a right hand
and Edwards cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Edwards shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tyrone as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tomas Edwards. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Edwards shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Tyrone's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Edwards tries to stand but Tyrone is controlling from the bottom.
Edwards loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Edwards working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Edwards throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tyrone works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Edwards decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Edwards gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Edwards not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Tyrone is looking for a sweep. Edwards is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've been informed that Tyrone has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Edwards connects with a nice short shot to Tyrone's temple.
Tyrone avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Edwards.

Edwards is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Edwards is working for a kimura but Tyrone is defending it quite comfortably.

Edwards missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Edwards wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Edwards is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tyrone sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edwards tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tyrone swivels and escapes.
Edwards lands with an uppercut that bounces Tyrone off the cage and back into range.
Edwards walks into a left hand.
Edwards tries to clinch up but Tyrone circles away and keeps his distance.
Edwards is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tyrone can do to turn this around?
Good exchange - Edwards coming out on top.

Tyrone gets tackled into the cage by Edwards. Edwards maintains the clinch.
Tyrone tries to break the clinch but Edwards is controlling the position.

Tyrone works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Edwards wants to stand and escape but Tyrone is having none of it.
Tomas Edwards overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tyrone got a little sloppy there for a moment and Edwards has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tyrone has managed to get both his arms back between Edwards's legs - danger averted.
Edwards wants to stand but Tyrone is controlling the position.

Edwards is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tyrone is breathing heavily.

Tyrone avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tyrone wants to stand but Edwards is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Edwards is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Edwards shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tyrone as he jumps to the side.
Edwards tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Tyrone holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Edwards manages to break the clinch.
Edwards misses with a takedown attempt - Tyrone sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tomas Edwards. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Edwards closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tyrone circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as Edwards checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Edwards connects with a right hand. Tyrone shakes it off.

Tyrone drives through and clinches with Edwards against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Edwards fails to pull guard.

Edwards breaks the clinch.
Edwards dives in for a single leg takedown but Tyrone sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Tyrone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Edwards wants to clinch up but Tyrone keeps it at a distance.
Drew Tyrone seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Tyrone has Edwards up against the cage in a clinch.

Edwards turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Edwards manages to end up in side control.
Edwards tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tyrone is looking to reverse the position.

Edwards stands up and beckons Tyrone to his feet.
Edwards tries to score a power double leg takedown but Tyrone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Edwards somewhat.
Drew Tyrone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Edwards thuds his right hand into Tyrone's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tyrone drops his hands momentarily and Edwards takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Edwards fails with the takedown.
Edwards shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Drew Tyrone will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Edwards instigates a clinch.
Edwards is looking to break free of the clinch but Tyrone has double underhooks.

Tyrone wants the takedown. Edwards is fighting it off but Tyrone persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Edwards's guard against the cage.
Edwards keeping moving, preventing Tyrone from controlling successfully.
Edwards utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Tyrone avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tyrone has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Edwards is proving hard to escape from.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Edwards not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tyrone takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Edwards escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tyrone gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Edwards has an active guard here but Tyrone has managed to pass into half guard.

Tyrone is trying to work for a kimura but Edwards is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Edwards has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tyrone is working away from the top position though.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Edwards wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tomas Edwards is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tyrone circles away from the clinch attempt.
Edwards shoots in for a takedown but Tyrone shows good takedown defense.

Tyrone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Edwards sprawls well initially but Tyrone persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Edwards is trying to stand up here but Tyrone is controlling him well.

Tyrone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Edwards keeps working.
Tyrone blocks the strikes from Edwards.
Edwards is looking for a sweep. Tyrone is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Tyrone is trying to control the action in half guard but Edwards is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Tyrone gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Edwards missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Edwards wants to get up but he can't break Tyrone's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Edwards stops Tyrone from standing up.
Edwards throwing strikes from guard but Tyrone blocks nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tyrone tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Drew Tyrone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tyrone has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
