The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCartney throws a leg kick but McLarnin sees it coming and moves out of range.
McCartney throws a leg kick which misses McLarnin's front leg but catches the back leg as McLarnin tries to avoid it.
McCartney looks to throw a body kick
and McLarnin counters with a three punch combo that has McCartney backing up. McCartney nods at McLarnin to acknowledge the strikes.
A shot to the body from McCartney misses
and McLarnin counters with a stiff right hand.
McCartney fails to land with a series of punches.
McCartney tries to land a leg kick but McLarnin saw it coming and moves away.
McCartney looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
McCartney shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McLarnin pinned against the cage. McLarnin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
McCartney fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and McLarnin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

McLarnin throws a big overhand right that connects, sending McCartney tumbling to the canvas!

McCartney looking to hit a scissor sweep but McLarnin is one step ahead there.

My spies in Rooster's Coop inform me that McLarnin has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McLarnin wants to get back to his feet.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from McCartney lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and McLarnin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from McLarnin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Jimmy McLarnin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
