Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jesse James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Hanes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Hanes!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hanes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hanes showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hanes throwing shots but James is blocking nicely.
Hanes wants to take a breather but James is having none of it.
Hanes trying to control the pace.
James is looking to escape.
Hanes controlling the action here.
Hanes is looking to advance position but James won't allow it.
Hanes is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

James has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hanes is working away from the top position though.

James is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hanes pulls his head out easily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hanes shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hanes swats away the attempt to clinch by James.

Hanes is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Hanes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. James fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Hanes fails to land the takedown.
Jesse James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Hanes.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hanes closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. Hanes pushes James against the cage but James circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hanes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts James as he jumps to the side.
Hanes misses with the combination.

Excellent takedown into side control there by James.

James in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
James scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hanes to see if he's OK.

Hanes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hanes is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ground and pound from James seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

James is looking to take a break and control but Hanes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
James tries to advance to mount but can't.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hanes can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hanes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but James wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

and James counters with a stiff right hand.

James shoots in and bounces Hanes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hanes keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James advances to half guard.
James looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hanes taking some punishment here, with James in his half guard.
Hanes is trying to maintain the position but James is very close to passing his half guard.
James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hanes keeps working.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and James counters with a lovely shot to the body.

James pushes Hanes up against the cage in a clinch.
James wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hanes has him pressed against the cage.
Hanes can't get the takedown.
James tries for a takedown. No joy.
James has Hanes pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hanes manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Hanes successfully pulls guard.
Hanes throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

James looking to sit in guard and control but Hanes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hanes is breathing heavily.

James had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hanes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. James Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hanes's back instead.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

James looking to break Hanes's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Hanes remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise James will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
James scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Hanes is looking for a way out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hanes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hanes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hanes wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Hanes won't allow James to sweep him here.
Hanes wants to stand but James has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and James counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and James counters with a straight right hand.

James lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hanes backs up against the cage.

James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hanes shoots and misses
and James cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A jab from James finds it's way through Hanes's defenses.
James stalks Hanes and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hanes's face. Hanes staggers backwards, shaken.
James lands with a straight right. Hanes didn't see that one coming.
Hanes moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hanes doesn't succeed with the takedown

and James counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by James.
Hanes tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. James just stands there and leans against the cage.
James tries to score a body lock takedown but Hanes shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hanes stops a takedown attempt from James.
James is trying to drag Hanes to the mat but Hanes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

James shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

James has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hanes's face.
Hanes is in a horrible position here. James smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
