And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Shimaburi!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frank drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Frank is fighting to break Shimaburi's control of his arms but Shimaburi is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Shimaburi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Frank is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shimaburi seems keen to control Frank's posture.
Frank is looking to work some ground and pound but Shimaburi has wrist control.
Shimaburi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shimaburi wants to stand but Frank is controlling the position.
Frank really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Shimaburi is looking to stand back up but Frank counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Shimaburi.

Frank is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Shimaburi as he works his way to full guard.

Frank wants to stand but Shimaburi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Shimaburi is pulling down on Frank's head. It's preventing any offense from Frank, at least for the moment.
Frank has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Frank wants to stand but Shimaburi is controlling his posture from full guard.
Shimaburi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Shimaburi lands a nice short elbow.

Shimaburi cracks Frank with an elbow. That is naaassty.


Frank is rocked!
Shimaburi in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Frank looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Shimaburi turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenji Shimaburi!
Kenji Shimaburi spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
