PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Crane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kosmo Kramer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crane comes to the cage accompanied by The Fall of Troy - F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X.. Kosmo Kramer looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stephen Crane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kosmo Kramer!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crane clinches up with Kramer and pushes him back against the cage.

Crane gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Crane is keen to just control but Kramer is a slippery customer.

Crane is trying to work for a kimura but Kramer is defending well.
Crane is nestled in close to Kramer, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Crane stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kramer to get to his feet.

Crane tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kramer paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Crane fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kramer, pushing him back against the cage.

Crane pulls guard effortlessly.
Crane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kramer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kramer is pushing down on Crane's leg trying to pass to half guard. Crane is fighting to maintain full guard but Kramer has managed to sneak the leg through.
Crane pushes Kramer off looking to stand but Kramer dives back in and keeps control.
Crane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kramer on the ground.
Crane is looking for a sweep. Kramer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Crane is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Crane tries to kick Kramer off but Kramer keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Crane tries to roll over but Kramer keeps him under control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kramer misses with a takedown attempt - Crane sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Crane instigates a clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Crane tries a knee to the head but Kramer blocks it.
Kramer tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Crane smiles and moves away.
Stephen Crane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kosmo Kramer.
No joy there for Crane, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Crane misses with a hook.
Kramer tries for a takedown but Crane sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kramer wants to clinch.

Kramer wants to control but Crane is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Crane looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kramer moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Crane wanted to stand there but Kramer had control of the position.
Kramer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Crane manages to get himself to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kramer passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Kramer cracks Crane with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Crane manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kramer's best efforts.

Crane is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Kramer pulls his head out easily.
Crane is not content to let Kramer control the position.

Kramer has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Crane throws a series of punches but Kramer moves out of range.

and Crane counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Crane.

Crane connects with a nasty looking knee right to Kramer's face.


It looks like Kosmo Kramer has been cut.

Crane pulls Kramer into guard.
Crane striking off his back but it's not causing Kramer any problems.
Crane manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Crane tries to control but Kramer wriggling away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kramer is trying desperately to improve position.
Crane lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Crane is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kramer can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kramer is looking to get to half guard.

Crane wants to take a breather but Kramer is having none of it.

Crane is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kramer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kramer.
Kramer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Crane is one step ahead there.
Crane wants to control from the top but Kramer keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kramer doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Crane counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kramer's guard now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Crane closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kramer to the mat! Kramer manages to get full guard.
Crane is pushing down on Kramer's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kramer is fighting to maintain full guard but Crane has managed to sneak the leg through.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Crane lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Crane is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kramer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Crane.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Crane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kramer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kramer pushes a forearm under Crane's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Crane is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
