PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Mooney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cheif Keef (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Mooney with that takedown attempt.

Keef bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Keef throws a strike aimed at the side of Mooney's head but Mooney avoids it well.
Keef trying to control the position but Mooney is working away.
Mooney is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Keef swings around for an armbar but Mooney sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Keef's guard.
Mooney really is a fat lump.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Keef looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mooney puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Mooney wants to control but Keef is keeping him busy.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Keef holds on and takes a little breather.

Keef has Mooney pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Keef pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mooney tumbling to the mat - Keef dives into Mooney's guard.
Keef is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Keef wants to control from the top but Mooney keeps moving.

Mooney is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Keef shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mooney napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Keef wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mooney, who protects the arm well.
Mooney wants to get back to his feet but Keef drags him back down.
Mooney wants to control but Keef postures up.
Mooney is trying to get back to his feet.

Keef is trying to get an arm triangle but Mooney is defending well.

Mooney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Keef's waist but Keef gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mooney off to one side.
Keef has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Keef misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cheif Keef seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Keef closes the distance and clinches.

Keef jumps guard.
Keef trying to keep a closed guard but Mooney is proving a slippery customer.

Keef has his foot on Mooney's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mooney works his way back into a safe position though.

Mooney gets to his feet. Keef looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Keef is breathing heavily.

Keef is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mooney knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Keef wants to take a breather but Mooney manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Keef.

Keef drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Mooney manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Keef has Mooney in his guard.

Keef has his hands on Mooney's head, controlling the position.
Keef lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Mooney looking for a sweep. Not yet Mooney, not yet.
Mooney wants to stand up but Keef is controlling him.

Mooney is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Keef is aware though and is defending well.

Mooney tries to sprawl but Keef drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Keef throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mooney wants to get back to his feet.
Keef throws a strike but Mooney avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Mooney looking to hit a scissor sweep but Keef is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mooney wants to stand and escape but Keef is having none of it.

Keef stays in close to Mooney's body and controls the position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Keef wants to pass the guard but Mooney is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Keef closes the distance and clinches.

Keef wants the takedown. Mooney is fighting it off but Keef persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Mooney's guard against the cage.

Mooney wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Keef manages to pass to side control.
Well, if Keef is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Keef wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mooney keeps working.
Keef slows the pace down in half guard.
Mooney scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Keef manages to mount him!

Keef goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Mooney turns into him and now he's in Keef's guard.
Keef looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mooney is one step ahead there.
Cheif Keef has got the better of the ground game so far.
Keef is still trying to improve position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Keef is pulling down on Mooney's head to control his posture.
Keef tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Cheif Keef comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Keef has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
