PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ganas Krusak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ganas Krusak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krusak displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Lesnar throws out the jab.
Krusak moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like James Lesnar has been cut.
Krusak moves away from the strike by Lesnar.
Lesnar throws the left hand but Krusak avoids the punch easily.

Krusak shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lesnar is trying to defend but Krusak finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lesnar controlling the position for now.

Krusak is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lesnar defends it well.
Lesnar is refusing to be controlled, as Krusak sits in half guard.
Lesnar trying to control from the bottom.

Krusak sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Lesnar keeping hold of Krusak's head, controlling as best he can.
Krusak prevents Lesnar from improving his position.
Krusak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Krusak wants to work for an arm triangle but Lesnar is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Krusak thows a huge punch but Lesnar dodges it nicely.

Krusak is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Krusak is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lesnar doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Krusak.
Lesnar wants to get back to full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Krusak is looking for a kimura but Lesnar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Krusak to get the leverage.
Krusak is keen to just control but Lesnar is a slippery customer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Lesnar shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Krusak napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lesnar in side control lands a decent elbow.
Krusak takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Lesnar working the ground and pound.
Lesnar lands a few punches from side control.
Lesnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Krusak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Krusak tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lesnar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lesnar landing strikes.
Krusak is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Krusak is looking for a sweep.
Krusak taking a bit of punishment here - Lesnar scoring with strikes.
Lesnar trying to control the position but Krusak is working away.
Lesnar working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Lesnar prevents Krusak from escaping the position.
Lesnar in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Krusak tries to improve position but can't.
Krusak regains half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lesnar looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Krusak with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Lesnar is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Lesnar will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on James Lesnar's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Lesnar throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Krusak tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lesnar is in Krusak's guard.
Lesnar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Krusak is keeping the position for now.
Krusak throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Lesnar scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Lesnar postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lesnar distracts Krusak with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Krusak is on top in guard.

Lesnar pulls Krusak in close to prevent any damage.

Lesnar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Lesnar leaves Krusak with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lesnar stuffs the takedown attempt from Krusak. Krusak gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Krusak is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Krusak takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.


Krusak is rocked!
Lesnar finds Krusak's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Krusak flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Lesnar lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Krusak will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). James Lesnar!
