Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Izzy Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rugal Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Griffin comes to the cage accompanied by Walk. The key to victory for Izzy Griffin has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Izzy Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rugal Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gracie defends it nicely.
Izzy Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Griffin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Griffin didn't expect that.

Gracie is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

We've been hearing good reports from Griffin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Gracie is pushing down on Griffin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Griffin is fighting to maintain full guard but Gracie has managed to sneak the leg through.
Gracie is pressing down on Griffin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Griffin is holding on for now.

Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Griffin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie.

Gracie keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Griffin is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gracie scores with a couple of nice shots.
Griffin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gracie controls from within his opponent's guard.

Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Griffin defends the submission attempt.

Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gracie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Griffin wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Griffin is working hard here to advance position.

Griffin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Griffin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.
Gracie lands a couple of digs.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Griffin has his foot on Gracie's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gracie works his way back into a safe position though.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rugal Gracie dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Gracie throws a series of punches but Griffin moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Griffin is defended easily by Gracie.
Griffin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gracie is fending him off so far but Griffin persists. Nope, Gracie circles away and we're back to standing.
Gracie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Griffin.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Izzy Griffin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gracie is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Griffin looks calm but he's in trouble here. Gracie gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Griffin is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Gracie lets go of the hold and Griffin can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Rugal Gracie decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
