Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tanishk Soni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Thorpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thorpe has chosen Tom Sawyer by Rush as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 28 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tanishk Soni! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Scott Thorpe! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soni throws a low kick but it's checked well by Thorpe. Soni looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Soni tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thorpe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Soni somewhat. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Thorpe checks a leg kick. Soni is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Thorpe's coach down at The Power Plant was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Thorpe's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Soni stuffs the takedown attempt from Thorpe. Thorpe gets slowly back to his feet. Soni displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Thorpe. Thorpe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Soni swats him away and circles back towards the center. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Soni ducks under a wild hook from Thorpe. Thorpe wants to clinch up but Soni keeps it at a distance. Soni goes for a double leg but Thorpe avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Thorpe continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tanishk Soni. That's going to take a lot out of him. Soni breaks the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Soni shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. No luck with that takedown attempt from Thorpe. Thorpe fails in his attempt to clinch. A lazy body kick from Soni and Thorpe counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Thorpe lands with a short shot to the head.
It looks like Tanishk Soni has been cut. Soni jumps guard and drags Thorpe to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Thorpe content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Soni has momentary wrist control but Thorpe slips an elbow through the middle. Thorpe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Soni keeping moving, preventing Thorpe from controlling successfully. Thorpe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. It looks like Thorpe might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Soni working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Thorpe.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Soni tries to clinch up. A momentary lapse in concentration from Thorpe enables Soni to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Thorpe manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Thorpe is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thorpe pushes Soni off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Soni fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thorpe avoids it really well and circles away. Thorpe fails with an attempt to clinch.
Soni rushes Thorpe and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Soni wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Soni wants a takedown but no success here.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Thorpe. Thorpe is looking for a takedown. Thorpe tries to stall but Soni uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Soni is trying to push Thorpe away but Thorpe has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Soni throws a punch but it's blocked by Thorpe. Thorpe tries to score a body lock takedown but Soni shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Soni breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Thorpe decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Still in half guard, Thorpe seems content to control. Thorpe looks to land a strike but Soni avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Thorpe looking to pass the guard. Thorpe looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Soni has his hands on Thorpe's head, controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scott Thorpe dominated that round. The cut man is working on Tanishk Soni's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
No joy there for Thorpe, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Soni moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Thorpe tries to clinch up. Soni lets loose with a powerful body kick. Thorpe will feel that in the morning. Soni throws a quick inside leg kick. Thorpe tries to clinch up. Soni wants to clinch but Thorpe slips to the side and Thorpe cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Thorpe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Thorpe lands in his opponent's guard. Thorpe controlling from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soni keeping moving, preventing Thorpe from controlling successfully. Thorpe stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Soni throws up his legs and catches Thorpe in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Thorpe tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Soni! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Tanishk Soni! After winning the bout, Tanishk Soni thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. Scott Thorpe was interviewed post fight and said 'I need more PEDs for the next fight. Who's got the od juice?'.
