Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alan Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Squid Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Squid Ward told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alan Johns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Squid Ward!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Chris Dean and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Johns just misses with a punch to the body.
Ward showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Johns.
Johns clobbers Ward with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Johns throws a solid leg kick but Ward takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Johns.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ward.
Ward changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johns tries to avoid it but Ward manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johns to the ground. Johns escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alan Johns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Squid Ward.
Ward shoots in for a takedown but Johns shows good takedown defense.
Ward fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johns avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johns cracks Ward with a right hand to the side of the head.
It looks like Squid Ward has been cut.
Ward shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Johns defends it nicely.
Johns misses with a double jab.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Johns tries to score with a low kick but Ward moves his leg out of the way.
Johns is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ward.
Johns connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Ward! He's out on his feet! Johns rushes in and drops Ward with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Alan Johns!
