Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Alexander! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ninnerd Disms! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A leg kick checked by Disms. Nice body punch from Disms. Alexander gets the takedown into side control. Alexander throws a strike aimed at the side of Disms's head but Disms avoids it well. Alexander sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Disms is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Alexander misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Alexander looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Alexander just content to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alexander throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Disms defending against the ground and pound. Disms seems a little lost for a moment, as Alexander dominates the positioning. Disms dodges the ground and pound from Alexander. Alexander misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Alexander working the ground and pound from side control. Alexander landing a few strikes. Disms is trying to escape the position but Alexander is controlling the position. Disms gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander working the ground and pound effectively.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Disms can do anything to dispel that myth. Alexander breaks from Disms's wrist control and lands an elbow. Alexander will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Disms takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Alexander moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Disms has worked his arm free - good work by Disms!
Alexander connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Disms some visible discomfort.
Disms looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alexander controlling from side mount. Alexander thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Alexander just content to control the position. Disms really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alexander. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alexander's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Alexander is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Disms is trying to escape and Alexander transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Disms is forced to tap! Nice work there by Alexander! Very nice indeed!
