Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leon DeLaurier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has chosen Don't Mean A Thing as his entrance music. Roy Nelson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

DeLaurier shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nelson is trying to defend but DeLaurier finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nelson works his way to full guard. Good work.
Nelson pulls DeLaurier in close to prevent any damage.
DeLaurier trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom.
DeLaurier throws a big elbow that misses.
Nelson wants to stand but DeLaurier is controlling the position.
Nelson pulls DeLaurier in close to his closed guard and prevents DeLaurier from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nelson can't keep his opponent in guard - DeLaurier advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

DeLaurier drops back looking for a leg! Nelson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nelson manages to kick DeLaurier off! DeLaurier jumps back into Nelson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nelson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
DeLaurier closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nelson circles away.
DeLaurier closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
DeLaurier shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nelson as he avoids it easily.
Nelson misses the shot to the body.
DeLaurier shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nelson sprawls well. Nelson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DeLaurier gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon DeLaurier. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nelson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

A relieved looking Roy Nelson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
