Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leon DeLaurier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nelson has chosen Don't Mean A Thing as his entrance music. Roy Nelson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leon DeLaurier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Nelson! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! DeLaurier shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nelson is trying to defend but DeLaurier finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nelson works his way to full guard. Good work. Nelson pulls DeLaurier in close to prevent any damage. DeLaurier trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom. DeLaurier throws a big elbow that misses. Nelson wants to stand but DeLaurier is controlling the position. Nelson pulls DeLaurier in close to his closed guard and prevents DeLaurier from doing any damage or advancing position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nelson can't keep his opponent in guard - DeLaurier advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Nelson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. DeLaurier trying to control but Nelson is working from the bottom. DeLaurier pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nelson is keeping the position for now. DeLaurier is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. DeLaurier wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving. Nelson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Nelson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. DeLaurier tries to free his leg and advance position but Nelson is retaining full guard. DeLaurier thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. DeLaurier wants to control from the top but Nelson keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. DeLaurier drops back looking for a leg! Nelson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nelson manages to kick DeLaurier off! DeLaurier jumps back into Nelson's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nelson trying to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Nelson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. DeLaurier closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nelson circles away. DeLaurier closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. DeLaurier shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Nelson as he avoids it easily. Nelson misses the shot to the body. DeLaurier shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nelson sprawls well. Nelson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DeLaurier gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leon DeLaurier. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nelson misses with a wild combination.
Nelson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Nelson scores with a nice right hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson throws a shot to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Nelson. Those never looked like landing. Leon DeLaurier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. DeLaurier on the wrong end of a nice hook.
DeLaurier is rocked! DeLaurier misses with a takedown and Nelson counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Roy Nelson! A relieved looking Roy Nelson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
