PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonah Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Someday by Flipsyde. Jonah Jackson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Jackson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jones.
Jones keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jackson.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily.

Jackson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Jones avoids them all with ease.
Jackson fails to land with a series of punches.
Jones checks a leg kick.
Jackson leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jackson connects with a jab.
Jones blocks a head kick by Jackson.
Jackson misses with a few strikes there.
No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt.
Jones could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Jones dives in and grabs Jackson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.

Jackson lands a big head kick that sends Jones tumbling to the mat! Jackson takes a step backwards and waves Jones back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Paul Jones has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Jackson circles away.
Jackson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Jackson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jones in his tracks.
Jackson throws a leg kick but Jones moved away.
Jackson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jackson lands with an overhand left.
Jackson throws a wild body kick that Jones sees coming a mile off.
Nice uppercut lands for Jackson. That snapped Jones's head back.

Jackson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Jones moves out of range easily.
Jones stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jackson.
Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jackson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Jones keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Jackson tries to land a front kick but Jones steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.
Jackson throws a nice looking combination but Jones bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jackson defends it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jackson misses with the combination.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.

Jones jumps guard.
Jackson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson wants to stand but Jones has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonah Jackson dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Paul Jones's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jackson throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it.
Jones shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jones.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson thuds his right hand into Jones's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jackson avoids it really well and circles away.
Jackson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones shoots in but no luck this time.

Oooooh!!! Jackson has knocked Jones down with a huge combo! Jackson steps away and waves a wobbly Jones back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Jones is rocked!
Jackson throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Jones walks straight into a right hand from Jackson - that's dropped him! Jackson jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Jones from any more punishment! Jones complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jonah Jackson!
