Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexsandr Slemenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Stratton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slemenko comes into the arena with Небо Славян blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexsandr Slemenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Stratton!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Stratton. Beautiful body shot.
Stratton lands a really nice looking cross but Slemenko seems unphased.
Stratton fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Stratton shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Stratton sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Slemenko defending well though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stratton is nestled in close to Slemenko, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Stratton not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Stratton looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Stratton seems to be working for a kimura but Slemenko defends the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stratton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Slemenko knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stratton on the ground.
Stratton lands strikes from half guard.
Stratton takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Stratton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Stratton is taking a breather. Slemenko says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Slemenko takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Stratton lands a nice shot that snaps Slemenko's head back.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stratton shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Slemenko eats them both and turns towards Stratton to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Eric Stratton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slemenko takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Stratton lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Slemenko at a distance.
A right-left combo lands from Stratton.
Stratton pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Slemenko back to the cage. Stratton follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Stratton fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Stratton throws out a powerful jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stratton punishes Slemenko's body with a nice straight punch.
Stratton lands a right hook to the body.

Slemenko gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Stratton digs a good hook to Slemenko's body.
Stratton scores with a one two! Slemenko had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Stratton stuns Slemenko with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Slemenko takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Stratton's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Stratton duly obliges.
Slemenko needs to keep his hands up - Stratton had a free shot at his head there.

Slemenko takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Stratton throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Stratton cracks a nice hook into Slemenko's ribs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Slemenko takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Slemenko takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Stratton drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Stratton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stratton throws a big elbow that misses.

Slemenko avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Stratton works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Stratton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Stratton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Slemenko with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Stratton, as that shot connected.
Slemenko gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Stratton.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Stratton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Slemenko walks into a stiff left hand from Stratton.

Stratton drives through with a takedown into Slemenko's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stratton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Stratton's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Oh Slemenko is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Slemenko utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Stratton is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Stratton throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Stratton makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stratton lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Stratton is working Slemenko over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Stratton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A left lands for Stratton.

Slemenko drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Eric Stratton seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Stratton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Slemenko was covering up waiting for the punch and Stratton finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stratton in particular looking to stall.

Stratton lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Slemenko quite badly. Slemenko pulls Stratton in close trying to recover. Stratton postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Slemenko on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Slemenko doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
