Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jermain Leaseau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dennis Pegeant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dennis Pegeant will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jermain Leaseau! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dennis Pegeant! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leaseau closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pegeant quickly recovers to half guard. It looks like Leaseau is going to stand back up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Leaseau in particular looking to stall. Pegeant is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Pegeant has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Leaseau is working away from the top position though. Pegeant is not content to let Leaseau control the position. Pegeant trying to hold on to Leaseau's head to control him but Leaseau postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pegeant controlling the position for now. Leaseau trying to pass the guard but Pegeant defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Leaseau drives through with a takedown into Pegeant's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Pegeant doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Our spies down at at Brown House inform us that Pegeant has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Pegeant pulls Leaseau in close to his closed guard and prevents Leaseau from doing any damage or advancing position. Pegeant is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Leaseau is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leaseau stays in close to Pegeant's body and controls the position. Leaseau wants to pass the guard but Pegeant is keeping the position. Pegeant being controlled here, momentarily. Pegeant is trying to control the position but Leaseau postures up. Leaseau preventing the sweep. Leaseau trying to stand up but can't free himself from Pegeant's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Leaseau drives through with a takedown into Pegeant's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Leaseau landing some decent shots from guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pegeant trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Leaseau looking to pass the guard. Pegeant wants to sweep but no luck. Pegeant bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Leaseau's guard.
Leaseau is looking for a triangle but Pegeant pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pegeant wants to control from the top but Leaseau keeps moving. Pegeant slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Pegeant lands a few punches from side control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Leaseau is pushing Pegeant's head away, looking to escape. Pegeant manages to hold on to the position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leaseau is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Pegeant with the counter takedown but Leaseau avoids it easily. Leaseau fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pegeant to the ground. Leaseau is now in Pegeant's guard. Leaseau lands a couple of elbows. Pegeant is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Pegeant wants to sweep here but Leaseau controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leaseau advances position into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. Leaseau tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Pegeant manages to work his way to half guard, despite Leaseau's best efforts. Leaseau uses his free foot to push down on Pegeant's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pegeant. Jermain Leaseau overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pegeant tries to hold on but Leaseau postures up. Pegeant is trying to escape the mount.
Pegeant tries to hold on but Leaseau pushes him away. Leaseau is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pegeant can do to turn this around?

Leaseau avoids the attempt from Pegeant to control. Leaseau tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Pegeant tries to hold on but Leaseau postures up. Pegeant is trying desperately to improve position. Pegeant is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leaseau misses with a head shot. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pegeant tries to lock up and control but Leaseau gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Leaseau prevents Pegeant from getting the reversal. Leaseau sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Pegeant can't escape the position.
Pegeant is still trying to improve position. Leaseau can't control as he wanted to and Pegeant manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pegeant regains full guard. Nicely done. Leaseau passes Pegeant's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Leaseau seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pegeant has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Leaseau is working away from the top position though. Leaseau blocks the strikes from Pegeant.

Jermain Leaseau dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Sloppy strikes from Leaseau. Those never looked like landing. Leaseau ducks under a wild hook from Pegeant. Leaseau shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Pegeant has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Leaseau is working away from the top position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's one minute gone in the round. Pegeant is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pegeant works his way into full mount! Pegeant throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Leaseau reaches up to try and control the position but Pegeant seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Leaseau rolls and tries to escape and now Pegeant has his back!
We've been hearing good reports from Leaseau's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Pegeant working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Leaseau is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Pegeant.
Leaseau trying to control the position but Pegeant manages to sink in the hooks. Leaseau is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pegeant is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Leaseau looking very determined here, making life difficult for Pegeant.

Leaseau wants to control his opponent's hands but Pegeant gets his hands free. Leaseau can't escape the position.
Pegeant is not going to allow Leaseau to sit and survive in this position. Pegeant somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Leaseau wants to control his opponent's hands but Pegeant gets his hands free. Leaseau might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Pegeant has good solid back control here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pegeant is looking for the choke from the back position but Leaseau is controlling his hands well. Leaseau manages to reverse the position and now he's in Pegeant's guard. Nice work there by Leaseau.
