Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elbert Robbins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejandro Conocchiari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alejandro Conocchiari has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Elbert Robbins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alejandro Conocchiari!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conocchiari misses with a two punch combination.

Robbins clinches up with Conocchiari and pushes him back against the cage.
Robbins is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Robbins just misses with a elbow thrown towards Conocchiari's brow.

Robbins breaks from the clinch.
Conocchiari stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Conocchiari wants it to stay on the feet.

Conocchiari shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Robbins is trying to maintain the position but Conocchiari is very close to passing his half guard.
Robbins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Conocchiari wants to pass the guard but Robbins is defending well.
Conocchiari with the ground and pound but Robbins uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Robbins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Conocchiari doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Conocchiari manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Conocchiari working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Conocchiari pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Robbins is keeping the position for now.
Robbins has control of Conocchiari's left arm, preventing Conocchiari from doing any damage.
Conocchiari is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Robbins tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Robbins wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Robbins tries to pull guard but Conocchiari holds him up against the cage and eventually Robbins drops back down to his feet.

Conocchiari turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Conocchiari manages to end up in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Conocchiari trying to control the position but Robbins is working away.
Conocchiari tries to move to mount but Robbins blocks the move with his legs.
Robbins is looking to regain half guard here but Conocchiari keeps moving and retains side control.

Conocchiari is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Robbins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Robbins is not content to let Conocchiari control the position.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Robbins stops Conocchiari from passing to mount.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Robbins sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Conocchiari trying to control the action but Robbins is working from the bottom.
Robbins holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Conocchiari seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Robbins does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Robbins is looking to improve his position.
Conocchiari is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Robbins tries to pull guard but Conocchiari holds him up against the cage and eventually Robbins drops back down to his feet.

Conocchiari tightens his grip and picks Robbins up, before dumping him to the ground. Robbins manages to land in guard.
Conocchiari throws a big elbow that misses.

Conocchiari is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Conocchiari gets to his feet. Robbins looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Conocchiari rushes Robbins and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Conocchiari gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Robbins regains guard.
Robbins is trying to keep Conocchiari in close.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Alejandro Conocchiari showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Conocchiari ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Conocchiari no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Robbins wants to control from the top but Conocchiari keeps moving.

Robbins is looking for a kimura but Conocchiari is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Robbins to get the leverage.
Robbins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Conocchiari does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Conocchiari has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Robbins is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Conocchiari sees it coming and defends easily.
Robbins is keen to just control but Conocchiari is a slippery customer.
Robbins thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Conocchiari kicks off Robbins and gets to his feet.

Conocchiari has closed the distance and engaged Robbins in a clinch.
Conocchiari doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Robbins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Robbins tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Conocchiari counters by moving into the clinch.
Robbins tries to pull guard but Conocchiari won't allow it.

Robbins breaks the clinch.
Robbins is trying hard to land a takedown here. Conocchiari sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Conocchiari shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Robbins napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Robbins is looking for a sweep.
A control attempt from Robbins but he's now mounted!
Conocchiari takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Conocchiari is continuing to stall.

Conocchiari has control of Robbins's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Robbins regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Robbins holds on to Conocchiari as tight as he can, avoiding damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Conocchiari goes for an armbar but Robbins turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Robbins.
Robbins lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Conocchiari pulls Robbins in close to his closed guard and prevents Robbins from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Alejandro Conocchiari comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Conocchiari has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
