Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jayson Frank! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harry Panchal! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frank tries to clinch up and Panchal counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Panchal wants to take a breather but Frank is having none of it. Panchal controlling the action here. Let's hope that Panchal has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Panchal trying to control the action but Frank is working from the bottom. Frank trying to control but Panchal postures up.
Panchal should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Panchal wants to pass the guard but Frank is defending well. Panchal is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Panchal shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Frank is trying to defend but Panchal finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Panchal works his way into full mount! Panchal sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Frank avoids a series of strikes thrown by Panchal.

Panchal goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Frank turns into him and now he's in Panchal's guard.

Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Panchal preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Panchal seems keen to control Frank's posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
