Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Amos Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohamad Izzat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mohamad Izzat looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mohamad Izzat!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Izzat avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bates moves in looking to clinch but Izzat pushes him off.
Izzat scores with a takedown into Bates's guard.
Izzat stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bates swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bates knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Izzat on the ground.

Izzat throws a big elbow that misses.
Izzat prevents Bates from getting back to his feet.
Bates is trying to keep Izzat in close.
Bates escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Izzat gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bates is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Izzat is aware though and is defending well.
Bates working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Izzat doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Izzat manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bates really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Bates wants to stand up but Izzat is controlling him.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Izzat works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Izzat throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The fighters are battling for position here. Bates manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bates has his foot on Izzat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Izzat works his way back into a safe position though.

Izzat tries to free his leg and advance position but Bates is retaining full guard.
Bates will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Izzat is pushing down on Bates's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bates is fighting to maintain full guard but Izzat has managed to sneak the leg through.
Bates kicks Izzat off and gets back to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Izzat wants to sweep here but Bates controlling him for the moment.
Bates postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Bates wants to stand but Izzat has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bates stops Izzat from standing up.
Bates is working Izzat over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Bates gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.

That was a close round but I would say that Amos Bates will probably get the nod.

Izzat throws a half hearted mid kick.
Izzat gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bates counters by clinching up.
The referee calls for Bates to work.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Amos Bates.
Izzat misses with a body shot
and Bates counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Bates is pushing Izzat up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Izzat jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bates walks away with a smile on his face. Izzat gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Izzat is breathing heavily.
The fight moves into the clinch position.

Bates misses with a body punch.
Nice body punch from Bates.
Izzat tries to pull guard but Bates holds him up against the cage and eventually Izzat drops back down to his feet.
Amos Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mohamad Izzat.
Bates pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Izzat looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Bates clinches up with Izzat and pushes him back against the cage.
Bates jumps into guard, dragging Izzat to the mat.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Bates takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Bates for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Izzat tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bates just stands there and leans against the cage.

Bates digs a good body shot into Izzat's ribs.
Izzat misses the shot to the body.
Bates cracks Izzat with an open hand slap.
Bates lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Amos Bates is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bates tries to close the distance and clinch up but Izzat swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Bates is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Izzat can do to turn this around?
Izzat jumps guard and drags Bates to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Izzat has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bates won't allow Izzat to sweep him here.
Bates is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Izzat has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Bates to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Izzat is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Bates pulls down on the head and he's put Izzat to sleep! This one is all over!
