Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Don Cragen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cragen comes to the cage accompanied by Captain Cragen. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Don Cragen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex James!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James shoots for a takedown but Cragen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Cragen misses with a wild combination.
James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cragen's waist but Cragen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
James fails with a takedown attempt.
Don Cragen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex James.
Cragen with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cragen fails with an attempt to clinch.
James with a hook.
James circles away from the clinch attempt.

James closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cragen quickly recovers to half guard.
Cragen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

James seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
James with the ground and pound but Cragen uses the opportunity to regain guard.
James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Cragen wants to stand but James is controlling the position.
James missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cragen is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cragen has escaped and now he's on top!


James manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Cragen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A combination from Cragen does no damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cragen enables James to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cragen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cragen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
James throwing strikes but missing.
James lands a couple of decent looking shots.
James postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Cragen wants to stand up but James is controlling him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
James working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cragen's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James postures up in Cragen's guard and throws a big left but Cragen blocks it.
Cragen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from James.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James lands a couple of decent looking shots.
James is in close to Cragen's body, working some short punches and elbows.
James stands up over Cragen, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
James landing with the ground and pound.
Cragen wants to stand and escape but James is having none of it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cragen tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cragen to the ground. Cragen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sloppy strikes from Cragen. Those never looked like landing.

Cragen tries to sprawl but James drives through with a takedown into half guard.

James seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James thows a huge punch but Cragen dodges it nicely.
Cragen is in trouble now - James has advanced to mount!
James with a couple of short strikes.
James lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
A big strike lands for James! That's really hurt Cragen and he's turned his back - James keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! James jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex James!
Alex James decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
