Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Obsut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dane Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cook comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I Want You to Want Me by Cheap Trick kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fedor Obsut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Dane Cook!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cook scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Obsut doesn't seem bothered though.

Obsut shoots in and gets a takedown into Cook's guard.
Obsut trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cook working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Obsut.

Obsut got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cook has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Obsut has managed to get both his arms back between Cook's legs - danger averted.

Our spies down at at Bruize Brothers inform us that Cook has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Cook looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Obsut is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cook can do to turn this around?

Cook wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cook is trying to break the clinch but Obsut is controlling him.

Cook escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Obsut shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cook but Cook pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dane Cook is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Obsut takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Cook misses with a hook.
The fighters circle momentarily. Cook darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Cook has Obsut up against the cage in a clinch.
Cook is trying to break the clinch but Obsut is controlling him.
I was talking to Obsut's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Cook is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Obsut is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Cook punishes Obsut's body with a nice straight punch.
Obsut lands with a hook. Cook tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Cook sizes up Obsut with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Cook scores with a three punch combo!
Cook misses with a wild body shot.
Obsut gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Cook stalks Obsut and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Obsut's face. Obsut staggers backwards, shaken.
Cook on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Cook dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Obsut tries to counter by clinching up but Cook breaks away and moves out of range.

Cook ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Cook throws a nice looking combination but Obsut bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Obsut does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Obsut moves out of range of the body kick.
Cook ducks under a wild hook from Obsut.
Cook takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Cook on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Obsut. Obsut obviously looking to wear him down.
Obsut connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Obsut tries to close the distance and clinch but Cook swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A slow jab from Cook misses its intended target.

Cook swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Obsut takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cook escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Obsut misses with a head kick.

and Cook counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Obsut throws a leg kick that is checked
and Cook counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cook bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Obsut misses with a head kick.
Obsut drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Cook takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Obsut keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Obsut tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Cook manages to circle out of the way.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dane Cook showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Obsut is looking to advance position but Cook won't allow it.
Cook wants to control but Obsut is keeping busy.
Cook is pressing down on Obsut's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Obsut engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Cook bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Obsut's guard.

Obsut has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Obsut working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cook doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cook manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Obsut is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Cook wants to improve his position but Obsut is controlling well.

Obsut working over Cook with some ground and pound. Cook looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Obsut lands a nice short elbow.
Obsut throwing shots but Cook is blocking nicely.
Cook regains full guard. Nicely done.

Cook working for submissions but it's allowed Obsut to get to half guard.
Obsut is nestled in close to Cook, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cook wants to control but Obsut is keeping busy and won't allow it.
