Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eli Patel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Eli Patel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brandon Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shaw shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Patel is trying to defend but Shaw finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Shaw's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaw missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaw takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Patel avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Shaw.
Shaw has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Patel wants to improve his position but Shaw is controlling well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Shaw feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Patel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shaw on the ground.

Shaw thows a huge punch but Patel dodges it nicely.

Patel looks like he's trying to stand up.

Shaw is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Shaw content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Shaw throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Shaw stops Patel from getting back to his feet.

Shaw tries to pass the half guard into mount. Patel knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Patel is looking to improve his position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Patel looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brandon Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shaw changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Patel looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Shaw tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shaw has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Shaw decides to stand up, so the ref orders Patel to his feet.

Shaw closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Patel's guard.
Shaw stands and throws Patel's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Shaw just content to control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Shaw misses with the ground and pound.

Patel is looking to stand back up but Shaw counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Patel.

Shaw works a leg free and moves into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Shaw takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Shaw is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shaw wants to work for an arm triangle but Patel is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Shaw throws a series of punches but Patel avoids them all with ease.
Shaw stuns Patel with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Shaw. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Shaw closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Patel to the mat! Patel manages to get full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shaw gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Shaw looking to score a takedown here. Patel is defending well but Shaw drives through and ends up in Patel's guard.
Shaw engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Patel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shaw slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Shaw is looking to work some ground and pound but Patel has wrist control.

Brandon Shaw showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Shaw rushes Patel and presses him up against the cage.
Shaw lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Come on Shaw - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Shaw jumps guard.
Patel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaw has his hands on Patel's head, controlling the position.

Shaw is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Patel defends well.
Shaw is controlling Patel's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Shaw has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Patel is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Patel.

Shaw decides to pull guard.
Shaw pulls Patel in to control the position.
Patel trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shaw wants to hit a switch here but Patel passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Shaw there!
Shaw is looking to improve his position but Patel isn't that keen on the idea.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shaw wants to control but Patel is having none of it.
Shaw is trying to reverse the position but instead Patel has taken his back - oops!
Shaw turns into Patel and is now in his guard.
Shaw wants to pass the guard but Patel is keeping the position.
Shaw is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

More stalling from Shaw.
Shaw is pushing down on Patel's leg trying to pass to half guard. Patel is fighting to maintain full guard but Shaw has managed to sneak the leg through.
Eli Patel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brandon Shaw is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Brandon Shaw comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shaw has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
