Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Tachia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Black Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lyoto Tachia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Black Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas stuffs the takedown.

Tachia shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thomas's guard.
Thomas wants to stand up but Tachia is controlling him.
Thomas is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Tachia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thomas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thomas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tachia controls the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Tachia ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

It looks like Black Thomas has been cut.
Lyoto Tachia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A solid leg kick lands there for Tachia.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tachia shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thomas pinned against the cage. Thomas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Tachia decides to stand up, so the ref orders Thomas to his feet.
Tachia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Tachia decides to stand back up. Tachia steps back and let's Thomas get back to his feet.
Black Thomas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
No joy there for Tachia, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

A nice inside leg kick there by Tachia. That's going to slow Thomas down.
Tachia throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Good leg kick by Tachia there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Tachia lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Thomas takes one on the button.
Tachia closes this distance looking for a takedown but Thomas circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tachia throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Thomas stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thomas looks to throw the jab but Tachia is out of range.

Thomas's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tachia explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Thomas crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Tachia - the referee stops the clock and Thomas gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Tachia. Thomas manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Tachia feints and then cracks Thomas's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Thomas down.

Tachia fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Thomas sprawls well initially but Tachia persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Tachia has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Tachia stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tachia feints and as Thomas raises his hands in defense, Tachia changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Tachia is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Tachia's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Tachia stands and throws Thomas's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tachia remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
