Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Balboa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Goldberg!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldberg blocks a head kick by Balboa.
Balboa throws a low kick but it's checked well by Goldberg.

Balboa clinches up against the cage.

Goldberg breaks from the clinch.
Goldberg fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Goldberg shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Balboa's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Goldberg content to stall in guard here.

Balboa escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goldberg gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Goldberg is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Goldberg is looking to work some ground and pound but Balboa has wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Balboa is pulling down on Goldberg's head to control his posture.
Balboa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Balboa tries to get out of the position.
Goldberg trying to control the position from guard on top but Balboa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Goldberg not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Goldberg tries to free his leg and advance position but Balboa is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Balboa throws his legs up looking for a submission but Goldberg uses it to pass to side control.
Balboa is breathing heavily.
Goldberg landing strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goldberg tries to move into full mount but can't pass Balboa's legs.
Balboa can't do much from the bottom here.
Balboa is not content to let Goldberg control the position.
Goldberg controls the position from side control.
Balboa is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Goldberg decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Goldberg avoids the head kick by Balboa.

Goldberg drives through and clinches with Balboa against the cage.
Goldberg trying to land knees to the body.

Goldberg manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Balboa has gone for a leg lock! Goldberg slips out almost immediately though and dives into Balboa's guard.
Goldberg trying to control but Balboa is working from the bottom.
Goldberg slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Goldberg stands up and beckons Balboa to his feet.

Goldberg clinches.
Goldberg pushes Balboa back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Goldberg decides to pull guard.
Balboa stopping the sweep attempt from Goldberg.
Balboa trying to control but Goldberg is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Goldberg dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Goldberg lands a right hook to the body.
Balboa tries to clinch but Goldberg moves away

and Goldberg counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Balboa's guard now.
Balboa is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Goldberg gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jack Balboa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Goldberg misses with an attempted mid kick.

Goldberg clinches with his opponent.

Goldberg is trying to trip Balboa. He has hold of a leg but Balboa is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Goldberg persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Goldberg being controlled here momentarily.

Goldberg is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Balboa working a defensive guard but Goldberg manages to pass into side control anyway.
Balboa is pushing Goldberg's head away, looking to escape. Goldberg manages to hold on to the position though.
Goldberg trying to control the position but Balboa is working away.

Goldberg is working to tighten is grip on Balboa's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Balboa has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Goldberg is really squeezing tight and eventually Balboa passes out! Goldberg breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Bill Goldberg!
