Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kevin Coryatt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ashley Sheilds! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coryatt closes the distance and clinches. Sheilds on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Sheilds has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Coryatt after a bit of a struggle. Coryatt leaning his opponent against the cage. Sheilds has Coryatt pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Coryatt manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Sheilds has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Coryatt avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Kevin Coryatt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ashley Sheilds. A right hand to the body from Coryatt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coryatt with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Sheilds has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Sheilds steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Coryatt. Sheilds tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coryatt instigates a clinch. Coryatt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Coryatt pushes Sheilds up against the cage in a clinch. Sheilds blocks an elbow strike. Coryatt is pressed up against the cage. Sheilds has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Coryatt down to the mat. Coryatt avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Coryatt lands a lovely overhand right. Coryatt takes the fight into the clinch. Sheilds is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Coryatt gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Sheilds tries for a takedown. No joy.

Sheilds has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Coryatt is proving hard to escape from. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Coryatt is trying to control the position but Sheilds postures up. Sheilds preventing the sweep. Sheilds tries to stand but Coryatt is controlling from the bottom. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Coryatt drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Coryatt wants to control from the top but Sheilds keeps moving. Sheilds keeping full guard, as Coryatt tries to pass. Sheilds wants to stand but Coryatt is controlling the position. Coryatt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coryatt prevents Sheilds from getting back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Coryatt trying to control but Sheilds is working from the bottom. Coryatt throws an elbow that misses. Sheilds uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Coryatt's guard. Nice move by Sheilds!

Coryatt wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Sheilds manages to pass to side control. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Coryatt takes the fight into the clinch. Coryatt taking a breather. Sheilds is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Coryatt can't fight it off and eventually Sheilds manages to take the fight to the floor. Coryatt looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Coryatt tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Coryatt is wriggling around but Sheilds manages to pass to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sheilds wants to stand but Coryatt is controlling his arm. Coryatt is trying to buck Sheilds off. Coryatt tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sheilds seems like he's trying to stand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A combination from Coryatt does no damage. Sheilds with the counter takedown but Coryatt avoids it easily. Coryatt closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Coryatt lands in his opponent's guard. Coryatt trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Coryatt stands up from guard. Let's bang! Coryatt closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sheilds's guard. Kevin Coryatt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Coryatt looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Sheilds tries to stand and escape but Coryatt is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sheilds is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Coryatt tries to roll over but Sheilds keeps him under control. Sheilds tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Sheilds gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Coryatt misses with a two punch combination.
Sheilds is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Coryatt gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coryatt lands a left hand that snaps the head of Sheilds backwards. Sheilds wants to take the fight to the mat but Coryatt manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Coryatt breaks the clinch.
